Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this an output to thunderbolt 3 for mac?

A: Apollo Twin is compatible with all Apple Mac computers that have an available Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt 2, or Thunderbolt 3 port. For Mac computers that feature Thunderbolt 3 via USB-C, a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt adapter is required.

Q: 2. what microphone stand would you request for this microphone?

A: The AKG P120 Cardioid Condenser Microphone can be used with a variety of different microphone stands. You could use a tripod style floor stand with a boom arm like the Auray MS-5230F Tripod Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom (B&H # AUMS5230F) or without a boom arm like the Auray MS-5230 Tripod Microphone Stand (B&H # AUMS5230). If you prefer a tabletop stand, the Auray TT-6220 Telescoping Tabletop Microphone Stand (B&H # AUTT6220B) and the Ultimate Support JS-DMS50 Tabletop Mic Stand (B&H # ULJSDMS50) are both good options. If you would like a studio broadcast arm, the Samson MBA38 Microphone Boom Arm - 38" (B&H # SAMBA38), the On-Stage MBS5000 Broadcast/Webcast Boom Arm with XLR Cable (B&H # ONMBS5000), and the Auray BAE-2X Two-Section Broadcast Arm with External Springs & Integrated XLR Cable (B&H # AUBAE2X) are all compatible. Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance to select a microphone stand that will be best for your specific application.

Q: 3. How can i get a replacement Mic Stand Adapter for P170?

A: It's an extremely common size. Almost any mic holder for a small diaphragm mic will work.

Q: 4. Is anyone using 2 of these simultaneously with the tascam dr-40 and if so, does the phantom power from the tascam do ok? How long can you record with a new set of batteries? Thanks

A: I do not own a Tascam dr-40, but we used 2 of these with phantom power from a Canon XA-10 and they worked well. It may be a decent alternative to a bunch of lav mics and a mixing board.

Q: 5. could this mic be used to amplify wood vibrations such as drums or even a piece of wood?

A: This would be an excellent mic for your application

Q: 6. Can the mic stand adapter (mount) be purchased separately? I have an older akg perception that I'm assuming is compatible.

A: We do not have the stand adapters seperatrely but we do have shock mounts that would fit. Both by AKG and third party: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/811165-REG/AKG_1040_Z_00020_SH_100_Shockmount.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075694-REG/auray_shm_scm1_shock_mount_for_condenser.html

Q: 7. How does it work on upright bass?

A: It should work very well. As a lower-cost alternative to the fabulous C414 family of mics, the C214 will offer you a fine low-end for recording an upright string bass.

Q: 8. Please provide Country or Origin for AKG GN30 ?

A: The country of origin is Taiwan.

Q: 9. Based on the description showing stage use , we bought two of these and put them on the edge of our stage facing the audience in the hopes of a decent ambient pick-up. They are picking up way too much from the rear and the manual actually says that they are either super cardiois or hyper cardioid which would not have as much rear rejection as a plain cardioid. Am I misunderstanding something or can you please advise us on a more appropriate selection? We are a church with a fair amount of stage volume and need these primarily for in-ear ambiance and the results were practically no vocals and little audience with mostly stage music from drums and guitar amps.Thank you

A: There are adapters in the box. One has holes to skew the response curve to voice. There is another to reject background sound. I think it comes with it installed. Did you check your db settings? It has a switch to drop the output.

Q: 10. Is this mike usable as on-camera microphone?

A: No it is not usable on-camera. You would hear every bump and noise. For video you would use a stable boom mic stand. Also if you are using this where there is a breeze you would need a wind cover.

[End Address] IMHO, a great investment. Our house of worship needed hypercardioid mics for the choir to elimiate audio bleed from the musicians. We were able to boost gain without feedback and the voices came through loud and clear. We've used a numer of cardioid mics in the past but needed something to really narrow the focus of the voices. The AKG C 1000 S was the ticket!

[Black] This is a very wonderful microphone. From the very first voice recording I ever made, I loved how my voice sounded. It seemed to isolate my voice, like I was speaking in a padded room. I couldn't believe how defined and precise my voice sounded. I believe it keeps my voice very accurate, and very clean. It picks up my voice very good without getting any noise from my computer in the background. It is very sensitive, and very powerful. I use 50% gain on my Scarlett USB interface. This microphone is supposed to be more forgiving on Vocals than the older P220 model which was extremely bright on top. The P120 is slightly bright, but not metallic or shrill. It's a very precise clean bright sound, that really makes your voice clear. I don't notice any residual harmonic distortion, so the circuitry is obviously very good. No hiss, or background buzz whatsoever. I think if this microphone cost $200, people would be buying it like crazy.

[Black] The AKG P120 has very good dynamic range for a budget microphone. Excellent for voice, and quite good for instrumentals (cello and guitar), too. I listened to every microphone in the $150-250 dollar range before making a decision, and this handily outperformed every other mic in this class. Very nice build quality, heavy and robust.

[Cardioid] We use this as a podum mic for spoken voice with PA, in hotel venues. We generally use wireless lavs on the principal talent, but the C1000S handles other people and also serves as backup. The hypercardioid insert provides an extra measure of resistance to feedback and ambient noise. This allows us to set it back a couple of inches further, which in turn provides more consistent level if the talent moves around a bit, and also discourages them from crowding the mic. Combined with a Sabine Feedback Exterminator, we can get adequate levels in almost any room, although sound-to-tape isn't nearly as dry as the sound coming from the lavs. Depending on the person speaking (especially with female voices) we sometimes need a bit of bass cut because the bass frequencies are enhanced by reflected sound from the podium surface.

[Cardioid] Had one years ago, even tried taping the windscreen back on as it still provided a very decent sound. The improvements in the switch and changeover to AA batteries as well as the vocal attachment make it one of the most versatile mic's in my arsenal. Whether voice, amp drums or instruments, it provides clear concise and fully articulated recreation of the original source. You can find more expensive solutions but be hard pressed to find a better one.

[Mono] This is an excellent microphone for both vocals and acoustic instruments. The battery power gives you phantom power equivalent in situations that don't have phantom power. A great, versatile mic to have for traveling musicians who want to make sure they have a consistent excellent sound.
