Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 3rd step of drag on the CX6 similar to the 5th step on the CX8 or is it less? Is the difference just fewer steps in-between or is it less drag overall?

A: Comparisons between the drag settings is not something listed by Miller on any head. The key in this case is that the CX8 offers more adjust-ability with 5 steps over 3 steps on the CX6. However we are not aware of a direct comparison between the steps.

Q: 2. Has anyone used this tissue to lay on top of a fine art paper, then rolled it? Would this tissue cause any scuffing of the fine art paper or image area when delicately rolled? Thanks!

A: When using the Archival Methods 16 x 20" Buffered Archival Tissue Papers, gently rolling the art work with the tissue paper on top will not cause any scuffing, as long as the "fine art paper" is dry.

Q: 3. How long does it take to assemble/disassemble? Do you need to do screw bolts every time?

A: The Proaim Heavy-Duty Portable Tripod Dolly comes assembled from the manufacturer and it is designed to fold up when travelling or put away, so you should not need to assemble/disassemble the dolly.

Q: 4. What is the optional track wheel attachment?

A: The Proaim Anchor Heavy-Duty Studio Camera Tripod Dolly optional track wheels are listed below. Proaim Track Wheel Set for Proaim Anchor Dolly BH #PRDWANCR

Q: 5. What size bolts do I need to screw the PROAIM Euro/Elemac Base Industry Standard Adapter Mount Plate to the Anchor Heavy-Duty Studio Camera Dolly?

A: Proaim does not list the size of the 3 x Mounting Bolt used with the Proaim Euro/Elemac Base Adapter Mount. A guess would be M10 thread.

Q: 6. Does this work with the Proaim Gravity Heavy-Duty Tripod (Flat Base)?

A: The Proaim Heavy-Duty Portable Tripod Dolly is not compatible with the Proaim Gravity Heavy-Duty Tripod (Flat Base). That tripod requires Proaim Anchor Heavy-Duty Studio Camera Tripod Dolly BH #PRDLANCR02 • MFR #DL-ANCR-02. Note the difference in the attachment of the legs to the dollies.

Q: 7. Any suggestions for media settings with my Epson SureColor P9000 printer? And is matte ink safe to assume with this material?

A: If you can't see a setting for vinyl the nearest substrate setting would be Semi gloss. If that's not available Semi Matte or luster should do the trick. As for the ink I would probably use photo black with this paper rather than Matte.

Q: 8. Does this work with sachtler flowtech 75 tripod?

A: The heavy-duty dolly can support rigs up to 1100 lb and weighs 23.5 lb. It can accommodate any tripod with dual-spiked feet and secures the feet with mounting clasps. NOTE: BH #SA4585 • MFR #4585 The Sachtler Flowtech 75 MS Carbon Fiber Tripod with Mid-Level Spreader and Rubber Feet : "The dual spikes at the end of each leg provide extra grip when working on softer ground, and you can snap rubber feet onto the dual spikes for better grip when working on hard or delicate surfaces."

Q: 9. Can I mount my Manfrotto 161MK2B Super Professional Tripod Mk2 on this dolly?

A: The Proaim Anchor Heavy-Duty Studio Camera Tripod Dolly is a universal dolly that should work with the Manfrotto 161MK2B

A: A specific speed rating is not listed for this product. However it does have 3 different speed levels and if needed you could always speed up a shot taken with it in post production.

[36 x 13 x 10"] Purchased in Feb 2022 with the Solo Q 100mm sticks. My previous tripod was a Vinten 5LF. I loved the Vinten, but with lighter cameras I no longer needed a head that could hold 40 lbs or more. The CX10 holds from 0 to 26 pounds and the 16 steps of counter balance and 5 levels of friction in both directions make for the perfect tool. I use both a Canon cinema camera and a Canon ENG camera on this tripod. No matter which camera or lens, I get remarkably smooth moves. And the CX10 / SoloQ is very light, about 10 pounds. My old Vinten was 16 to 18 pounds at least. The Carbon fiber legs are stiff and rigid. A wonderful purchase.

[18.95 lb] I've seen reviews somewhere that people had trouble installing this dolly on their tripod. There are no instructions.

Here's some hints:

- Extend your tripod all the way.
- Lock the wheels
- Set the tripod legs next to the locking positions on the dolly.
- One at a time, secure the legs to the dolly
- Adjust height as needed

Yeah, this dolly is expensive, but it is built like a tank, rolls smoothly and should last forever.

[Spiked Feet] As my cameras got bigger, I had to upgrade my fluid head from really old Manfrotto. I first tried the Miller Air fluid head, but found it did not have the range or resolution for counterbalance adjustment I was looking for. The CX10 is substantially more expensive, but the 16-steps of counterbalance and 5 steps of drag adjustment are just perfect for me. The counterbalance setup is simple: set drag to zero, slide the camera-plate forward/backward to locate the center of mass, then increase the counterbalance to get the best balance over the range planned for the shot. Finally bring-up the drag to get the feel you want.

Some reviews of the CX series complain they can not get perfect balance, and experience kick-back and drift at the tails of tilts or pans (especially when using long lenses where the effect is amplified). But I have found that a combination of proper balance setting, higher drag, and user technique can give me perfect starts and stops with zero kick-back. One of the keys is to use a high drag setting and a firm had to initiate the tilt/pan. Then ease-up to the stopping point, and just hold briefly for a second before releasing the handle. This works perfectly for me every time. And by the way, poor tripod torsional stiffness can make even a perfect fluid head appear to have pan-axis kickback, but in reality it is the tripod legs kicking-back, not the head (mount this on the 26 pound Kessler K-pod tripod, and you will see how perfectly it works with an infinitely-stiff tripod). For typical shooting situations, I mount this on a Manfrotto 536 and it is a great combination.

This head is tremendously sturdy and solid - really well-made with silky-smooth bearings and absolutely zero play in any axis. I also love the size, grip and feel of the pan bar (handle) - it is big and beefy, feels great in the hand. Now that I have it, I wish I had bought a nice fluid head years ago! Miller has done a great job on this one!

[Aluminum] This replaced a well know brand fluid head and the difference was night and day. The counter balance is smooth, super easy to use, and convenient top plate loading.

I have no disappointment and am considering the accessory plate.

[36 x 13 x 10"] I am mainly interested in birds photography, my recent set up is Sony A9, 2x teleconverter and sone 400mm f2.8, the head supports the setup well and provides good fluid motion, for both photography and video purposes, I also own an miller DS20 which is too “hard” for the Sony set up, but the ds20 is great for Nikon DSLR with the 800nn f5.6vr

The major drawback of miller is the plate design, different to the rest of the world, I am asking my local craftsman to handmade some plates with supporting skeleton for my systems

[Spiked Feet] I bought this as a tripod for my telescope which weighs about 90 pounds. It fit my tripod legs very well. Nice pockets to hold the bottom of the legs. Very sturdy support and rolls very easily. It has wheel locks which are needed for telescope viewing. It makes it much easier to move my telescope around. [Spiked Feet] I purchased the Miller CX10 Fluid Head specifically for use with a Sony A7iii and Sony 200-600 G zoom lens in a rig weighing about 13 pounds. I use this setup as a moving camera for closeups in concerts. It's important to have smooth action with (near) perfect balance. The CX10 meets all of my need and expectations. It is also compact, rugged, and very easy to adjust. It is a true fluid head, so adjusting the drag is easy, since you aren't working against spring tension found in friction heads. The counterbalance is also easy to adjust, without undue resistance. I can point it to any position and let go of the handle without sag and very little springback. Hold for just a second or two, and the springback disappears.

[18.95 lb] Working in broadcast TV starting in late 70's and through to 2015 and the only components that lasted the test of 7 day a week use in all weather conditions were the Miller heads and this unit is no exception. I purchased on a flash sale and have employed in many different configurations with mirrorless and camcorder rigs. I enjoy the simplicity of the settings as usually, with previous heads, I would set up and never adjust say for the camera positioning. And the reality is, these units hold their value as the cost of manufacturing always rises. Most shooting is reliant on the sticks. If your head is poor, you work harder. This as with all Miller heads will long outlive most careers and provide years of worry free, solid performance.

[Aluminum] This head is fantastic! It is replacing a 25 year old Vinten Vision 5. While I have loved the Vinten, the infinite adjustable friction has worn out. I love the gears in this one and the 16 step counter balance. Also the Vinten heads only have a range for which they can be counter balanced, like 7 pounds to 14 pounds. This guy can go all the way from zero to 26.4 pounds. That means I can use a heavy camera or a DSLR and still balance the weight. Excellent design!
