    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could these fluorescent bulbs be replaced with 100 watt daylight LED bulbs? I would think that the LED bulbs would not get as hot.....

A: Yes you can use LED bulbs, but I'm not sure what the max wattage the fixture can take if you use 6x 100w.Most household LED bulbs commonly CRI 50-70ish, so try find some with CRI 90+ for better coloring.

Q: 2. Does the head also have an umbrella receptacle?

    A: No.

    Q: 3. Will this hold Amaran PT4C?

A: Yes, the Matthews MQ Mount for LED and Fluorescent Light Tubes is compatible with the Amaran PT4C.

Q: 4. Will this fit on the original Pavotube 30?

A: The Nanlite Fabric Barndoors and Grid for PavoTube II 30X LED Pixel Tubes will not fit the original PavoTube 30.

Q: 5. so this is basically a $150 super clamp?

A: No. This is a Matthews MQ Mount that is made and designed for LED light tubes.

Q: 6. Is there a grid that will work with this?

A: Unfortunately, Impact does not offer a grid for this light kit.

Q: 8. I'm looking to do a newborn shoot and I, don't want to use my studio lights has any one used this set up for newborn photography?

A: I bought the setup exactly for newborn photography. I will not us strobes with a newborn. Set up the shot ahead of time using a teddy bear for test lighting. I use a beanbag covered with fuzzy material to hold the baby with mommy close by. Also use reflectors for fill and back light from the Octabox lights or from natural light. You can use a light background cloth on supports

Q: 9. Will this tilt back far enough to aim the light straight up at the ceiling?

A: Yes, good for bouncing light off the ceiling or a reflector

Q: 10. Are there any other modifiers available for these?

A: Unfortunately, the included softbox and reflector are the only recommended modifiers for this light.

[0.675 lb] A bit tight or stiff but work fine and no problems.

[0.675 lb] The extension tubes from Vello make the Macro photography work

easier. In using these extension tubes I have not had to use close up
glass kit that was originally my primary method for Macro photography. These extension tubes are well worth the money.

[0.675 lb] These extension tubes are some of the best I’ve used and are priced right. No compatibility issues and full function on auto focus for F-mount. The release and mount mechanism is snug. The construction of the product is excellent and I have no worries on strength. I have great confidence when attaching a heavy telephoto lens. So, bottom line is, EXCELLENT.

[0.675 lb] They work amazingly. You don't need a macro lens. They take any lens in your arsenal and change it to macro. The one drawback is if your in a hurry it takes time to change them out! Glad I bought them!

[0.675 lb] These are good solid mounts, that work.
I use them with quasar rainbows.

[0.675 lb] The Genaray Light Bag for Two 4' RGB Pixel LED Tubes has a great look. It stands out from my other all-black bag for light tubes.

It has a center pocket for the cords and power bricks. Each zippered pocket is also padded.

I like that it opens flat to give you easy access to the light tubes and that the pocket in the middle has a different zipper color.

The material feels durable and it's water resistant. There isn't a ton you can say about a bag but overall it's a great option for the 4' LED tubes.

[0.675 lb] Was concerned this wouldn't be as solid as the other mount options, but it's fantastic. Grips perfectly and rigid.

[0.675 lb] I am using this with Quasar Science Q-LED Crossfade LED tube lights, and it is perfect.  It maintains a solid hold on the light, with no worry about it slipping or moving.  It can be used to grip in the middle or at one end.  The plastic jaws do not crush or mar the fixture at all.  The MQ Mount lives up to the quality and strength of Matthews products.

It needs to be used with a grip head (gobo head).  As a total solution, it is a little expensive and over-engineered, but I cant complain about the results.  It is so solid and worry-free, it is definitely worth the premium cost.

Compare this to the Kupo KCP-413, which I have also used: The metal spring clips are only so strong, and they scratched up the aluminum housing of the light the first time I tried it.  The built-in swivel is redundant, since it too must be used with a grip head.

I would definitely recommend this product for this application, and as I build up my collection of Quasars, I will be sure to have MQ Mounts to go with them.

I have NOT used this with bare Kino Flo tubes.

[0.675 lb] I have now replaced my other mounts for my Quasar Rainbow tubes with these. They are hands down the easiest, safest, and simplest of all the single tube mounting solutions.
Don’t even think about it but one for each tube you own.

[0.675 lb] Use MQ Mounts with Nanguang/Nanlite Pavolite LED tubes. The mount is sturdy and reliable, and does not damage the tubes one iota.  Worth a bit extra to make sure your tubes are solidly mounted.
