Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can we adapt the 2" UV bandpass filter to a Sony E-mount 49mm lens?

A: I know of no adapter to mount a 2" (50.8mm) filter on to a 49mm opening. I do know some that use gaffing tape.

Q: 2. Do these filters come with a case?

A: Each filter comes in a plastic case

Q: 3. what is the filter factor, i.e., by how many stops does white light get diminished?

A: Depending on the subject, the Alpine Astronomical H-Alpha 20nm Bandpass Filter could reduce light by a factor of fifty or more.

Q: 4. How do you fit this eyepiece to the diagonal that comes standard with Celestron Nexstar 8SE?

A: It fits the Celestron 8se directly as long as you are not using the 2" Schmidt-Cassegrain Adapter.

Q: 5. Is it parfocal with other Alpine Hyperion eye pieces?

A: This is the only additional information B&H has on the Alpine Astronomical Baader 72° Hyperion 36mm Aspheric Eyepiece (1.25"/2") https://alpineastro.com/products/baader-36mm-hyperion-aspheric-2-eyepiece And yes to the compatibility with other eyepieces

Q: 6. This zoom eyepiece is 3 times the price of Celestron's zoom. Is it worth that difference in cost?

A: It has much higher optical quality due to the -Phantom Coating Group Multi-Coatings and 7-Element/4-Group Flat-Field Lens Design

Q: 7. Can I use the Baader 76 degree Morpheus 4.5 mm eyepiece in the Celestron Regal M2 100ED spotting scope I have ordered from B&H?

A: It probably wont work properly because its too magnified. The Spotting scope is too short a focal length, I would recommend a 12 mm & higher.

Q: 8. Is this eyepiece barrel 1.25/2" or only 1.25" ?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 68° 10mm Astronomical Eyepiece (1.25"/2"), will work both with 1.25" and 2" holders." (We can see in the Overview it is explained-This eyepiece with a unique modular design that allows it to fit into standard 1.25" holders and accessories with the ability to remove the primary snout and have it fit into larger 2" holders as well.)

Q: 9. If I got this for film photography, how many stops of light would I have to compensate for a film like hp5 or fp4?

A: The Kolari Vision UV Bandpass Lens Filter does not specify a filter factor since the factor varies based on the amount of UV light.

Q: 10. What is the outer housing diameter of this piece?? I need it to fit inside the 1.25" Orion Variable Universal Camera Adapter. So this eyepiece needs to have an outside diameter of less than 38.3mm.

A: The outer housing diameter of this eyepiece is listed at 101.5 mm so it would not fit.

[435 nm] The 24mm hyperion works very well with my f6.5 achromatic telescope. Its 68 degree FOV translates to 2.4 degree true field of view on that scope, a definite step up from the eyepieces that came with the scope from Celestron. Very little chromatic aberation noticed even looking at the bright moon. The slight green halo at the top edge of the full moon was only noticed when I remembered to look for it - not a problem for me as a visual observer. Jupiter gave good views, only a little soft at the very edge of the field. The only problem I experienced is that it's on the heavy side. I can't achieve balance on my mount the way it's set up.

[Aluminum] Its almost magic. Se what your eyes can't see. Thats what this filter does in a full conversion camera, a tripod and a photographer capable of working with tools that are not for everyone. But if you pay what it costs and wait for it to be back ordered you are more than likely a committed photographer already. The filter can be used in a lot of scientific uses but I got it once I converted a full frame DSLR with still a lot of life ahead to full spectrum and got a very large set of filters to get the most of it shooting infrared and UV photography. So far it's been a great way to open new possibilities on creative photographic exploration.

[2"] This eyepiece provides an unsurpassed combination of wide field and long eye relief. So if you're looking for both in a single ocular, look no further. It's wonderfully comfortable, and just...gets out of the way.

[0.155 lb] I have a Celestron Astro Fi 130 telescope. It came with 10mm and 25mm lenses. The 10mm field of view is so narrow that finding objects was often very difficult, even when I used the lower magnification 25mm lens to center the object.
This Alpin Astronomical Baader lens has a wider field of view than the 25 mm lens my telescope came with. When I realized that, I stopped using the 25mm lens to align my mount.

The rubberized grip is nice. This is a large lens. It weighs significantly more than the factory lenses.

I have also used this lens with a 2x barlow lens. I was able to see rings on Saturn and even some hints of banding on Jupiter. Not bad for a 130mm aperture. The wide field of view meant I could point to those planets without aligning my telescope (because they were setting and I didn't have enough visible stars or time to align) and family members had enough time to take turns viewing the planets without having the objects drift out of view.

This was one of the most expensive accessories I purchased for my telescope, but it has enhanced my enjoyment significantly.

[Multi-Coating] This eyepiece is absolutely perfect. It has plenty of eye relief, and a good field of view. Optically your view is real clear and crisp. I was so impressed by the performance of this eyepiece that I bought more of them in different magnifications so I could cover all aspects of enjoying the night sky. A great price range for this level of performance. In short, these are a must have!

[Glass] There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.

[0.155 lb] I have owned multiple 9mm eyepieces over many years and this is one of the best. Within that past few years I found that could not see as clear as I used to, needed to ware my glasses and started to focus on better eyepieces. I started with Explorer Scientific and Televue. I purchased the ES92 series and it became clear that in addition to great optics, eye relief of at least 18mm, was a critical factor in my ability to see objects with comfort and ease.

I did multiple comparison sessions between the Morpheus, my
Televue 8 /100, my Meade 8.8 /82 and a 9 /68. No matter how much I appreciated the Ethos wide field I could not see the entire field with my glasses on, in fact its became uncomfortable and difficult for to achieve exit pupil as well as eye placement. For eye relief and
comfort the Morpheus was the clear winner. The Morpheus barlowed well and is also significantly lighter than my ES92 and lighter than my ethos.

Optically the Morpheus was excellent and sharp to the edge even in my fast f4.95 Dob. The televue was slightly sharper, darker. The ES92 provided similar views but it's hard to tell due to magnification difference and the 92 degree field of view. The Morpheus
provided excellent views of M36, 37, 38, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars as well as M43 which showed clear divisions between dark and light nebula without a filter.

Considering the eye relief, comfort, field of view, weight and the optical performance the Morpheus will be replacing my Ethos. I would absolutely recommend this eyepiece.

[2"] Alpine does a great job and for the price. Good eye relief for a 9mm eyepiece.
