Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a #8 Yellow?

A: No it is not. A Yellow #8 is typically used for an increase in contrast with black and white films. The Alpine Astronomical Baader Yellow Colored Bandpass Eyepiece Filter is centered on the 495nm wavelength suppresses the secondary blue spectrum when using achromatic and half-apochromatic refractor telescopes, increasing image sharpness.

Q: 2. Is it parfocal with other Alpine Hyperion eye pieces?

A: This is the only additional information B&H has on the Alpine Astronomical Baader 72° Hyperion 36mm Aspheric Eyepiece (1.25"/2") https://alpineastro.com/products/baader-36mm-hyperion-aspheric-2-eyepiece And yes to the compatibility with other eyepieces

Q: 3. will this product be compatible with the NexStar 8se?

A: Have a look at your eyepieces: there should be an internal thread on the end that goes into the telescope focusser. If so the Celestron eyepiece filters will fit, in fact they will screw into most brands of 1.25 eyepieces. However, they will not fit any 2 or the older 0.965 eyepieces. Kind Regards, Ian

Q: 4. This zoom eyepiece is 3 times the price of Celestron's zoom. Is it worth that difference in cost?

A: It has much higher optical quality due to the -Phantom Coating Group Multi-Coatings and 7-Element/4-Group Flat-Field Lens Design

Q: 5. I have a Fuji X-Pro3 and T-Adaptor (for Fuji). Do I need this B&H #ALHTA43T2 in order to connect to the Mark 4 zoom?

A: That is correct, the B&H #ALHTA43T2 adapter is necessary to attach to T Mounts.

Q: 6. How do you fit this eyepiece to the diagonal that comes standard with Celestron Nexstar 8SE?

A: It fits the Celestron 8se directly as long as you are not using the 2" Schmidt-Cassegrain Adapter.

Q: 7. is this a filter that makes planets less bright?

A: Yes, Neutral Density filters make things darker however. It is mainly for use with the moon. The Alpine Astronomical Baader 0.6 Neutral Density Filter to reduce the amount of light coming into your eye during lunar observation and improve the view and contrast.

Q: 8. Will these filters work with the Meade 114EQ-AST 4.5 /114mm Reflector Telescope Kit B&H # ME114EQST / MFR # 04066-1 ? How do they compare to the Meade #3200 Lunar and Planetary Color 4-Piece Filter Set ?

A: Yes this filter set will be compatible with your Meade 114EQ-AST 4.5 /114mm Reflector Telescope Kit. Both kits are actually somewhat comparable. Some reviewers have said the Meade is better quality wise. Personally I think they are the same.

Q: 9. does it work in the celestron omni xlt130? in the original 25 mm eyepiece and the omni 4mm eyepiece?

A: Yes it will work on both 25mm and 4 mm eye piece which you got with you celestron omni xlt130.

Q: 10. Can I use the T-mount adapter shown in "Recimmended Accessories" to shoot through this eyepiece with my D-SLR? I already have one, and a Nikon F-mount adapter. Can I just screw it to the threads on the viewing end of the eyepiece, then attach my D-SLR via my Nikon adapter, or do I need to get a special connector?

A: You need this adapter to attach a T mount adapter, Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion M43/T-2 T-Adapter BH #ALHTA43T2 • MFR #HTA43/T2 https://bhpho.to/30q8Ltq

[0.13 lb] Bought this with the 14mm and 28mm fine tuning rings (ftr) that are sold separately. The 1.25 nosepiece has a Barlow lens because if you take off the 1.25 and put it in a 2 diagonal it is 22.9mm still with the 68 afov.
With the 14 & 28mm ftr together it is 8.1mm focal length. So with one eyepiece I can get 13mm,10.8mm, 9.2mm, 8.1mm and basically 23mm focal lengths all in one eyepiece. I mainly use the 13mm and 23mm and save the 8mm for closeup views of small globular clusters and other DSOs.
It has an excellent flat field view to the edges and especially considering the price it is as good or near as good as EPs that cost three times as much. Baader hit it out of the ballpark with this one.

[3.1 x 3 x 0.95"] The 24mm hyperion works very well with my f6.5 achromatic telescope. Its 68 degree FOV translates to 2.4 degree true field of view on that scope, a definite step up from the eyepieces that came with the scope from Celestron. Very little chromatic aberation noticed even looking at the bright moon. The slight green halo at the top edge of the full moon was only noticed when I remembered to look for it - not a problem for me as a visual observer. Jupiter gave good views, only a little soft at the very edge of the field. The only problem I experienced is that it's on the heavy side. I can't achieve balance on my mount the way it's set up.

[Aluminum] I have owned multiple 9mm eyepieces over many years and this is one of the best. Within that past few years I found that could not see as clear as I used to, needed to ware my glasses and started to focus on better eyepieces. I started with Explorer Scientific and Televue. I purchased the ES92 series and it became clear that in addition to great optics, eye relief of at least 18mm, was a critical factor in my ability to see objects with comfort and ease.

I did multiple comparison sessions between the Morpheus, my
Televue 8 /100, my Meade 8.8 /82 and a 9 /68. No matter how much I appreciated the Ethos wide field I could not see the entire field with my glasses on, in fact its became uncomfortable and difficult for to achieve exit pupil as well as eye placement. For eye relief and
comfort the Morpheus was the clear winner. The Morpheus barlowed well and is also significantly lighter than my ES92 and lighter than my ethos.

Optically the Morpheus was excellent and sharp to the edge even in my fast f4.95 Dob. The televue was slightly sharper, darker. The ES92 provided similar views but it's hard to tell due to magnification difference and the 92 degree field of view. The Morpheus
provided excellent views of M36, 37, 38, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars as well as M43 which showed clear divisions between dark and light nebula without a filter.

Considering the eye relief, comfort, field of view, weight and the optical performance the Morpheus will be replacing my Ethos. I would absolutely recommend this eyepiece.

[Multi-Coating] Alpine does a great job and for the price. Good eye relief for a 9mm eyepiece.

[3.1 x 3 x 0.95"] This eyepiece provides an unsurpassed combination of wide field and long eye relief. So if you're looking for both in a single ocular, look no further. It's wonderfully comfortable, and just...gets out of the way.

[0.13 lb] Nice to have a filter that works great with my Baader eyepiece.

[3.1 x 3 x 0.95"] There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.
