Primarily developed to filter interfering light from streetlamps and the scattered atmospheric light that they and the moon can cause, the 1.25" Baader Neodymium Moon & Skyglow Filter 1.25"can be used by itself or stacked with other types of filters for both visual observation and astrophotography. With this filter, red and blue colors are strengthened without significant dimming of the view, presenting natural and enhanced colors without tinting.

Planetary and lunar views are improved when used with reflectors and apochromatic or achromatic refractors. Jupiter's Great Red Spot and ruddy hues of the bands are noticeably enhanced, and contrast of Martian surface features are significantly boosted. Its high transmittance preserves image brightness and galaxies, nebulae, and globular star clusters are improved due to the reduction of skyglow and light pollution. The filter also benefits from UV/IR luminance coatings which make the filter ideal for astrophotography through DSLRs or CCD imagers that are sensitive to wavelengths outside the visual spectrum, which can often cause ghosting.

[0.125 lb] I bought the moon filters just before the last super moon, and B&H was able to get it to me in just a day. I've only used the darkest filter so far, but it vastly improved the view and was well worth having.

[0.125 lb] I recently purchased the Celestron Moon filters do use with a Celestron AstroMaster 130.

Although I am new to astronomy and am just learning the ropes, I am already impressed with their performance.

The filters reduce the brightness of the moon and enhance the visibility of its details.

I am especially pleased that they make it easier to observe the moon with less eye strain.

The filter is easy to install and the build quality seems solid.

I would recommend Celestron Moon filters to anyone looking to enhance their lunar observing experience.

[1.25"] The polarizing eyepiece was on backorder for a few weeks, but B&H kept me informed. Shipping was secure - well packaged.

The filter is in 2 pieces and seems of quality manufacture. The metal frames around the filter pieces fit together easily, and rotate smoothly as one varies the polarizing effect.

I haven't given it a thorough test yet as the moon has been covered by clouds.

[3.8 x 2.95 x 1"] I am not a fan of the typical false-color, high-contrast Moon filter that came with my telescope, so I was glad to find this set of neutral density filters. I considered an adjustable polarizing filter as an alternative, but there is something nice about the simplicity of just reaching for the amount of filtration you need with this set. I tend to reach for these when viewing the Moon at half or brighter stages, and tend to go for the two darker filters, but even the lighter ones have proved helpful when viewing bright planets like Venus and Jupiter on a large aperture OTA to help reduce the glare, allowing one to see more detail without negatively affecting color.
