Use the Baader 0.9 Neutral Density Filter 2" for Alpine Astronomicalto reduce the amount of light coming into your eye during lunar observation and improve the view and contrast. The lens surfaces are fully multi-coated with Phantom Group seven-layer optical coatings. This maximizes light transmission across the entire visual spectrum, stepping down the light throughput while maintaining color-neutral views without reflections, ghosting, or stray interference light.

Its housing is made to fit most 2" eyepieces and has female threads for stacking it with other ND and colored filters to further improve views when observing planets and other objects. This iteration of the ND filter line has an optical density of 0.9, with 12.5% transmission and a reduction factor of 8—making it ideal for viewing and photographing the moon during the time shortly after half-moon.

The filter can also improve solar viewing, but only as a secondary pre-filter stacked with a primary dedicated solar filter. Failure to use a dedicated solar filter may result in permanent eye damage up to and including blindness.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work with other RF mount cameras or just the EOS R?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Wide T-Ring Set for Canon EOS R fits all Canon RF mount cameras.

Q: 2. How do I connect this filter to my Olympus Zuiko f/4 300mm PRO lens?

A: I have no idea how you would attach a 2" Alpine Astronomical Baader Neodymium Moon & Skyglow Filter (2") BH #ALFMS2 • MFR #FMS-2 1 review Alpine Astronomical to a lens having a 77mm opening

Q: 3. how can I adapt the Baader U-Filter 2" to a Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1:1.8G Lens?

A: 2" is the outside diameter of the filter, not the thread. It's an M48 thread as stated on the manufacturer website, baader-planetarium. Use a normal step-up ring.

Q: 4. It says you can remove the smaller nosepiece to use the 2" barrel. But it changes the focal length. To what?

A: This is the only information being offered by Alpine Astronomical https://alpineastro.com/products/baader-13mm-hyperion-68-modular-eyepiece#description

Q: 5. Is this 48mm?

Q: 6. Dose it has a Ultra-Short version like EOS adapter?

A: Celestron T-Ring for Nikon F-Mount Cameras BH #CETRN • MFR #93402

Q: 7. How can we adapt the 2" UV bandpass filter to a Sony E-mount 49mm lens?

A: I know of no adapter to mount a 2" (50.8mm) filter on to a 49mm opening. I do know some that use gaffing tape.

Q: 8. Will this fit a M48 X .75 thread?

A: This is an M42 Thread, so it will not fit that threading size.

Q: 9. Is this filters that make planets less bright?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader 3.0 Neutral Density Filter is used to reduce the amount of light coming into your eye during lunar observation and improve the view and contrast. It is not made for planetary use.

Q: 10. Is this a #8 Yellow?

A: No it is not. A Yellow #8 is typically used for an increase in contrast with black and white films. The Alpine Astronomical Baader Yellow Colored Bandpass Eyepiece Filter is centered on the 495nm wavelength suppresses the secondary blue spectrum when using achromatic and half-apochromatic refractor telescopes, increasing image sharpness.

[0.14 lb] Very nice. Could use one more thread though. Seems a little short on threading when trying to attach and remove while making lens changes in the dark. Makes me a little nervous sometimes that I will drop it during removal from the lens. Good quality though and I like having it around.

[0.9] There is no better narrowband green filter for astronomical observations and photography. I have been observing since 1974 and this filter has turned my achromatic refractor into an apochromat. Viewing on the Moon cannot be sharper eliminating chromatic aberration by using one wavelength of color and then converting to black and white monochrome. Baader's reputation exceeds itself.

[2"] One of the best items I've purchased for my 140mm telescope.
The reduction in sky glow and the contrast improvement add to those Oh, Wow! moments of star gazing.

[0.9] This dovetail clamp is well made and has a quality finish. I am building my own custom telescope mount and this clamp should be a secure fixture for my application. The clamp accommodates Vixen-style dovetail bars and should support small to medium size telescopes without a problem. However, I would NOT put a large, heavy telescope on this clamp.

[12.5%] I am using the clamp on a SkyWatcher Star Adventurer 2i mount. It is quite versatile in that it can be attached to a mount in several ways. It is very well built and enables secure attachment of lenses/telescopes with Vixen dovetail bars. A very good value.

[0.9] I live in heavily light polluted skies, yet I can go out in the backyard and look up at the billowing clouds of the milky way. I can actually see meteorite showers when they are happening. This is all possible by using this filter in conjunction with a Gen3 night vision device. This filter blocks out all light below 685nm which is basically all the man made light pollution leaving mostly celestial light for your enjoyment. This does cut out hydrogen alpha light, so you will not be seeing nebulae with this, but a separate band pass filter is used for that purpose.

[0.9] Baader makes some great lenses and filters, I have yet to be disappointed and this one is no different.
