Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Q: 2. TP-Link has different hardware versions for the same model. Can you confirm if this one is V1, V2, or V2.6?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG105PE 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Unmanaged Switch (BH #TPTLSG105PE • MFR #TL-SG105PE) is currently version 2.6.

Q: 3. I would like to know what is the power adapter input power data: voltage and frequency?

A: As per the manufacture the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE Unmanaged Switch uses a 56W Power Supply.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Xfinity modem/router combo?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG108E 8-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch will be fully compatible with your Xfinity modem and router hardware.

Q: 5. Can this switch hand out DHCP?

A: Since the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Managed Switch is a managed switch, you are able to hand out DHCP.

Q: 6. So if I upgrade to a mesh wifi router which has only one ethernet in-port than my old non-mesh wifi router, is this the right device to, in effect, add more ethernet-in ports to the mesh router? Is there a performance hit using this?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Unmanaged Switch is exactly what one would use in the case you described, at no detriment to performance.

Q: 7. is this rackmountable?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG1016 16-Port Unmanaged Gigabit Switch is rack mountable and the mounts are included.

Q: 8. TP-Link rep, what switch is your most inexpensive managed switch?

A: That would be the TL-SF1005D. If you are looking for a sub $20 Gigabit switch look at the LS1005G

Q: 9. How is this mountable on a 19" rack when it is only 11" side?

A: The TL-SG1024S comes with brackets that allow it to be mounted in a standard network rack. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: 10. What is the hardware revision of this switch?

A: I'm very sorry but the revision is not something the manufacturer tells us before they ship them to us. If they had different part numbers, it would be easy to tell but since they don't, we cannot guarantee which revision is inside the box. Sorry for the inconvenience.

[13.1 W (Max)] If you are looking for a good, simple to install, switch- then this one is for use. This switch is a fanless design, making it very quiet. One thing to keep in mind is that if you plan on rack mounting it, this particular model will not fit in a standard rack. Also, this switch is unmanaged, a simple plug and play design. So far, I have had no issues with it and it has worked flawlessly- I use this switch in my home, from witch I remote into work from. I have used VPN’s, large files and all that fun, and the switch has worked great. I would recommend this switch to anyone needing a simple , 24 port, plug and play switch.

[48 Gb/s ] What can you say? It's a gigabit switch. Great price. Don't overthink this. Installed in a small biz with no issues.

[48 Gb/s ] Have several of these installed, both in a rack and on a shelf. Solid switches, never had a problem for the 2 plus years of using them. Does not get too hot, just a little warm. No noise at all.
