The STRATUS Cage for Sony a7/a7R III Camerasis a full cage that is form-fitted to the third generation of a7 series cameras. The cage section of the STRATUS is based on an Arca-Swiss plate, allowing the cage to be secured to any Arca-Swiss compatible tripod. Surrounding the cage are 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes, as well as a shoe mount and an ARRI rosette for securing articulating arms, handles, or other essential accessories.

At the top of the cage is a NATO rail for clamping the top handle. The top handle has a shoe mount, and for improved grip can accept a bicycle handle grip. Below the cage, the included rod clamp is height-adjustable, ensuring compatibility with your 15mm rod-based accessories. Two sets of rods, 4 and 8" in length, are included as well, so you can build your rig around shorter or longer lenses. The shorter rods are threaded so they can be used as extensions on the longer rods for even more spread out rigs.

A: While we are not aware of issues with past cages, this is a new item number from SmallRig. With any company new items improve upon the old models.

Q: 2. I purchased the Ikan Stratus Cage for my Sony A7iii after I was told on the phone by someone from B&H that this cage will work with my Sachtler Ace XL fluid head. But so far as I can tell, that doesn't appear to be the case. The screw and stud on the Sachtler plate don't match up with the base attached to the Stratus cage. The stud on the plate (next to the screw) prevents the cage from being completely secure. Facing one direction, the stud rubs against the edge of the Stratus base to prevent a level tightening. Facing the other direction, the stud isn't far enough away to fall into the larger screw hole in the Stratus base. The distance between the screw and the stud on the Sachtler plate is not far enough for the stud to extend past the Stratus base or slip into its larger screw hole. Is there an adaptor for this or a workaround?
