The Audix f50 Handheld Dynamic Microphoneis a Fusion Series handheld cardioid dynamic microphone offering high feedback immunity and a smooth, unhyped sound for vocals, speech, and instruments in studios, houses of worship, corporate events, and live stage applications. The element features a dynamic moving coil, which requires no external power. Its cardioid polar pattern attenuates off-axis noise caused by sources such as monitors, additional instruments, and room ambience.

The f50 produces a frequency response of 50 Hz to 16 kHz with moderately pronounced low-mid and high-mid frequencies. Its dynamic element is designed to handle loud input signals without distortion while providing over 20 dB of off-axis rejection. The gold-plated XLR 3-pin output ensures compatibility with most microphone preamps and mixer inputs, and the die-cast zinc alloy body with a steel mesh grille provides road-ready protection and durability. The f50 ships with a microphone clip and carrying pouch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this mic compare to the Shure SM58?

A: The audio specs for the frequency response range and sensitivity of f50S and SM58 are fairly close. Both mics can handle very loud sounds but the SM58 will retain more clarity at the very highest sound pressure levels. In terms of construction, both mics are made of metal and are very durable. Both mics include a pouch and mic clip. There is a difference in the length of the manufacturer's warranty. The f50S has a 3-year warranty and the SM58 has a 2-year warranty. The f50S has an on/off switch and there is a SM58S model (B&H # SHSM58S) that includes an on/off switch. There is also a difference in price between the Audix and Shure mics which may also be a consideration. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance.

Q: 2. For a Canon 70d I know I need a xlr to 3.5mm cable so the mic connects to my camera, But I was wondering which cable would I need to do that? There's so many options. Which xlr to 3.5mm cable should I get from this site. Thanks

A: The recommended cable adapter for DSLR connection is the Kopul LMT-100. This is an 18 cable adapter. To run the length from the mic to adapter would require a standard XLR mic cable. Available in lengths from 1 to 100 feet.

Q: 3. Will this work with a Zoom H1 with a mini plug adapter? How is it powered?

A: This microphone has a dynamic element so it does not require a power source to operate, however you would need to ensure your adapter includes a low-to-high impedance-matching transformer. This will convert the mic's low impedance output to the high-impedance input required by the handheld recorder.

Q: 4. why does it say only connect to 48v phantom power if it doesn't use it? I have a 15v phantom power mixer,

A: The Sennheiser E 835 is a dynamic mic that requires no phantom or external power.

Q: 5. give my total cost for the e935 sent to Montreal, PQ Canada?

A: You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.

Q: 6. Will this mic work with the nikon d5300?

A: This mic connects via XLR hookup. As long as you have proper connection to camera (via mic cable) you should be fine.

Q: 7. IS the mic clip for the stand included with the stage kit?

A: Yes, the mic clip is included and will be found in the box with the microphone. Very often manufacturers will ship the mic clip with a little insert that allows use with boom poles. If it is inserted in the threading of the mic clip, use a dime as a tool to back out and remove the insert and you'll be all set.

Q: 8. Is it wireless

A: No the Sennheiser e 835 is a cardiod dynamic mic. The only way it can be made wireless is with a wireless system that has a a mic plug transmitter. Like the Sony or the Sennheiser

Q: 9. Is E835 mic compatible with Sennheiser XSW-D wireless system? (Iwanna replace with XS1 mic).

A: Hi Tevfik - Yes! The XSW-D Vocal Set is compatible with any dynamic microphone (or battery powered microphone) - enjoy the upgrade to the e 835!

Q: 10. does this mic have an on/off switch?

A: No.

[Black] I was tired of listening to myself singing with the Audio Technica AtT2010 for 2 years, proximity effect was awful on that mic. With the Audix vx5 everything is better, no more proximity effect!!! Voice is warm, clarity is high, I love it. Thanks to B&H also, I got the price match and received the microphone in 3 days, I live in California, what a great company to deal with.

[Cardioid] I have personally used the mic over the guitar amp and also to mic saxophones.

[1.1 lb] A great multi-purpose dynamic mic, I use this small-sized, big-sounding tool for instruments and vocals alike. It obviously excels on the snare drum and on guitar cabinets, but I like the sound I get from it on various percussion, brass and lower-toned woodwind instruments. It doesn't have the shrill high-end crispness of a condenser, but you don't always need that. Overall, it sounds clean and strong, and adeptly resists feedback.

[Cardioid] My Brother is in the entertainment business. They use Audix & recommended this mic to me because of its reliability, durability & bang for the buck. I am very happy so far.

[Cardioid] I have a bunch of OM5s which I use generally on all sorts of bands when I work as an in-house live sound engineer. On a bitey sound system they're a more pleasant vocal mic than other ubiquitous vocal mics you see around a lot. I find the OM5 has less mud, a slightly rounder mid, and doesn't suffer from the high mid narkiness of other common vocal mics. There's a very usable top end brightness which really brings the vocals to the front without being sibilant or harsh. The tighter pickup pattern also helps cut out spill from loud guitars and drums, which means the mix sounds clearer and tighter. Another bonus is that you can get a much louder vocal level in your monitors before feedback rears its ugly head... Useful for weak singers. The matte black finish looks very subtle and cool, and a little dangerous, and doesn't steal attention away from the singers. The biggest problem I have with this mic is the pickup pattern is too tight for singers who move around a lot in front of it. If your vocalist plays guitar and spends a lot of time turning her head to watch her fret hand, you'll frequently lose level as she goes off-mic. This is the flip-side of having a good tight pickup pattern.

[On/Off] This mic is a nice unit with a slim handle, light weight, and clear pick up. Unit also has no feed back with other products in use around it. This is replacing a Shure 58S because the Shure mic had terrible background noise pickup in when the switch was in the off position. The OM2-S does not have the noise problem.

[1.1 lb] Great Vocal mic, studio sound in live situation. Rarely have to do much EQing with this mic, very transparent.

[Cardioid] this mic does a great job on the bottom side of the snare. Nice crisp high end, nice mids. Sounds better than the small condenser mic we were using.

[Black] Micing the double bass can be tricky, but this has proven to be an inexpensive solution for getting a great live acoustic bass sound- everything I want to capture is there, without adding any additional qualities inherent in piezo pickup systems.

Punchy lows when you want it, without being uncontrollably boomy; inexpensive; lightweight and unobtrusive; rejects unwanted nearby sound sources; resists feedback; with the Audix inline XLR transformer, this dynamic works perfectly with any instrument amplifier.
