A part of their Astro T-2 line, the Baader Polaris I 25mm Illuminated Eyepiece for Astronomyis an ideal companion piece for improved tracking accuracy and measuring the size and magnitude of celestial objects.

The 25mm focal length produces a relatively low power on most telescopes to ensure a generous 40° field of view, while the 3-element/2-group lens design and Phantom Group multi-coatings ensure bright, clear, and crisp views. A double-cross reticle displays across the entire field of view and is illuminated red to preserve night-adjusted vision. To ensure the perfect amount of brightness, a rheostat gives users 11 intensity levels.

Internal threads on the front allow it to be directly attached to Astro accessories such as diagonals, or users can add optional 1.25" or 2" nosepieces for use as conventional eyepieces. On the back end is a fold-down rubber eyecup that can be removed to reveal standard T-mount threads. These accept optional camera-specific T-rings for various astrophotography and imaging techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what does the sx stand for ?

A: It's the model of the binocular. FMTRC-SX Polaris the C stands for compass and FMTR-SX is no compass.

Q: 2. Can I use the Baader 76 degree Morpheus 4.5 mm eyepiece in the Celestron Regal M2 100ED spotting scope I have ordered from B&H?

A: It probably wont work properly because its too magnified. The Spotting scope is too short a focal length, I would recommend a 12 mm & higher.

Q: 3. Can I use the T-mount adapter shown in "Recimmended Accessories" to shoot through this eyepiece with my D-SLR? I already have one, and a Nikon F-mount adapter. Can I just screw it to the threads on the viewing end of the eyepiece, then attach my D-SLR via my Nikon adapter, or do I need to get a special connector?

A: You need this adapter to attach a T mount adapter, Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion M43/T-2 T-Adapter BH #ALHTA43T2 • MFR #HTA43/T2 https://bhpho.to/30q8Ltq

Q: 4. Can you use continuous led monolights. Like the 450 smallrig? Or would it be hot and melt the background?

A: The Angler HiKey Illuminated Background (6 x 7') was meant to be used with strobe or LED light sources; the manufacturer did not list any limits of the power being used.

Q: 5. I have this unit purchased, but it is on back order. Now I am looking at filters to go with it. Do filters need to be 1.25" or 2" in diameter to work in combination with this eyepiece?

A: You may use both 1.25" filters and 2" filters with the Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Mark IV Zoom Eyepiece (1.25"/2"). According to the manufacturer, the Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Mark IV Zoom Eyepiece (1.25"/2") includes both 1.25" and 2" barrels. The 1¼" Barrel is threaded for standard 1¼" filters, and the 2" Barrel for standard 2" filters.

Q: 6. Is there a white vinyl train accessory for this illuminated background?

A: Angler does not make one at this time, but manfrotto does make A Super white vinvl train. B&H # mavt67sw

Q: 7. How do you fit this eyepiece to the diagonal that comes standard with Celestron Nexstar 8SE?

A: It fits the Celestron 8se directly as long as you are not using the 2" Schmidt-Cassegrain Adapter.

Q: 8. I have a Fuji X-Pro3 and T-Adaptor (for Fuji). Do I need this B&H #ALHTA43T2 in order to connect to the Mark 4 zoom?

A: That is correct, the B&H #ALHTA43T2 adapter is necessary to attach to T Mounts.

Q: 9. What is the outer housing diameter of this piece?? I need it to fit inside the 1.25" Orion Variable Universal Camera Adapter. So this eyepiece needs to have an outside diameter of less than 38.3mm.

A: The outer housing diameter of this eyepiece is listed at 101.5 mm so it would not fit.

Q: 10. How does the compass work? Is it displayed inside the viewing area of the binocular?

A: Yes it has an internal compass with rangefinding reticle. While the compass is electronically controlled for rapid response to bearing changes, illumination is by a natural daylight-gathering window. At night, you will need the optional external compass illuminator.

[15.5 mm] The Baader Morpheus 6.5mm eyepieces is a winner. From the abundant eye relief to the wide field, the excellent contrast and sharpness, the eyepieces doesn't let me down. While the eyepiece might be considered a bit large, it isn't overly heavy and it fits in well with the other eyepieces in the Morpheus line-up. It is a keeper.

[40°] This wide angle low power eyepiece provides a clear view with stars appearing as pin points to the edge of the field. A real valuable tool in your eyepiece collection.

[25mm] I have a Celestron Astro Fi 130 telescope. It came with 10mm and 25mm lenses. The 10mm field of view is so narrow that finding objects was often very difficult, even when I used the lower magnification 25mm lens to center the object.
This Alpin Astronomical Baader lens has a wider field of view than the 25 mm lens my telescope came with. When I realized that, I stopped using the 25mm lens to align my mount.

The rubberized grip is nice. This is a large lens. It weighs significantly more than the factory lenses.

I have also used this lens with a 2x barlow lens. I was able to see rings on Saturn and even some hints of banding on Jupiter. Not bad for a 130mm aperture. The wide field of view meant I could point to those planets without aligning my telescope (because they were setting and I didn't have enough visible stars or time to align) and family members had enough time to take turns viewing the planets without having the objects drift out of view.

This was one of the most expensive accessories I purchased for my telescope, but it has enhanced my enjoyment significantly.

[18 mm] Crisp, sharp images, from edge to edge, and good color. Nothing not to like about this eyepiece.

I have an 8 Dobsonian. My current obsession is finding deep sky objects. I bought this eyepiece mainly for it's 2/1.25 design, so I can break down those objects into a lot finer detail, once I find them with my longer 2 eyepieces, without having to change out my focuser set up. And, with its 76 degree apparent field of view, I've been able to jump to other parts of the sky, and still find other objects, without having to switch back to a longer focal length eyepiece, and jumped from Mars to Uranus last week, with no problem (granted, they are pretty close together right now).

But I also really appreciate its focal length. On nights when my 4.5 Delos is over magnification for the conditions, this eyepiece has been the perfect focal length to bring the details back into focus, when looking at the planets.

I've only been at this hobby for a year. I have a hodgepodge of different brands of eyepieces, mainly because I want them all. Each purchase I have made, so far, has to been to fill in my progression of focal lengths. I've spent between $100 - $400 on each of these purchases, and am happy with every one of them. And this one was no exception. So I have no reason to think that quality isn't the main focus of most manufacturers in this industry.

Maybe that's all just a long winded way of me suggesting, if this eyepiece, or any eyepiece you see, fits the criteria you want, there's no reason not to buy it. I'm very happy with mine.

[25mm] Bought this with the 14mm and 28mm fine tuning rings (ftr) that are sold separately. The 1.25 nosepiece has a Barlow lens because if you take off the 1.25 and put it in a 2 diagonal it is 22.9mm still with the 68 afov.
With the 14 & 28mm ftr together it is 8.1mm focal length. So with one eyepiece I can get 13mm,10.8mm, 9.2mm, 8.1mm and basically 23mm focal lengths all in one eyepiece. I mainly use the 13mm and 23mm and save the 8mm for closeup views of small globular clusters and other DSOs.
It has an excellent flat field view to the edges and especially considering the price it is as good or near as good as EPs that cost three times as much. Baader hit it out of the ballpark with this one.

[18 mm] This eyepiece provides an unsurpassed combination of wide field and long eye relief. So if you're looking for both in a single ocular, look no further. It's wonderfully comfortable, and just...gets out of the way.

[40°] The 24mm hyperion works very well with my f6.5 achromatic telescope. Its 68 degree FOV translates to 2.4 degree true field of view on that scope, a definite step up from the eyepieces that came with the scope from Celestron. Very little chromatic aberation noticed even looking at the bright moon. The slight green halo at the top edge of the full moon was only noticed when I remembered to look for it - not a problem for me as a visual observer. Jupiter gave good views, only a little soft at the very edge of the field. The only problem I experienced is that it's on the heavy side. I can't achieve balance on my mount the way it's set up.
