This 55mm Haida NanoPro MC ND Filter 55mm 12-Stopfrom Haida NanoPro MC ND Filter 55mm 12-Stopprovides a 12-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.6 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes 10 layers of anti-reflection coatings, which also offer greater protection to the filter substrate and help keep it clean for a longer period of time. The Nano coating associated with the Haida 55mm NanoPro MC Solid Neutral Density 3.6 Filter provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

A thin, aluminum-alloy filter ring minimizes the potential for vignetting, while remaining durable and lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the Haida magnetic vnd filters vignette on a 15mm lens? I have the Laowa 15mm f/4 macro.

A: The Haida 77mm NanoPro Magnetic Interchangeable Variable ND 2-Filter Kit could possibly cause slight vignetting using the 15mm lens.

Q: 2. Any reason this would not work with a Lee Foundation kit (100mm wide)? There are no specs so it's hard to tell just how thick it is.

A: This should also work with the Lee Foundation Kit.

Q: 3. does it works with Haida M10 holder?

A: Yes. The Haida M10 holder takes 100mm 2mm-thick filters such as this Haida 100x100mm ND1.8 filter. :)

Q: 4. Is it UV too?

A: Haida 77mm NanoPro MC Clear Filter is a clear multicotaed glass to protect your lens from the elements. This filter does not reduces ultraviolet light, therefore it is not a UV filter.

Q: 5. How could it be high quality with good price ? I love it !

A: The filters with nano coding are good quality filters

Q: 6. What is the technical difference between the Haida Slim Pro II & Haida NanoPro Circular Polarizer Filters?

A: This Haida NanoPro MC Circular Polarizer has the Nano coating which provides an additional layer that results in an improved beading effect when the surface comes in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning. And it has side knurlings to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens. The Haida Slim Pro II Circular Polarizer does not have the Nano coating or knurling but it is thinner and less likely to vignette when using a wide angle lens.

Q: 7. What is the thread pitch of the 105mm filter? 0.75 or 1.00?

A: The Haida NanoPro MC Clear Filter (105mm) has a 0.75 pitch.

Q: 8. Will this fit Nisi V5 holder?

A: Yes, this filter is 100mm wide and 2mm thick, which is the appropriate size for that holder.

Q: 9. Does the magnetic adapter ring that screws on the lens contain a 1-stop polarizer like the Freewell's base filters do with their system? Or is Haida's adapter a 0-stop CPL? I want the ability to remove the top VND filter when moving from bright to low-light environments, without having another stop of reduction below it (in the adapter).

A: The magnetic adapter ring in this Haida NanoPro kit does not contain a polarizer.

Q: 10. did anyone compare this Hoida filter with NiSi or Breakthrough night sky filters. Both Nisi and Breakthrough are more expensive, but is there any advantage?

A: The NiSi is a bit better glass and slightly more correct with color than the Haida, however not by too much. If I needed to rank them I would say 1. NiSi, 2. Haida, 3. Breakthrough

[0.13 lb] I have tested this filter three times now in daylight and artificial light and am very satisfied; it's earned a place in my kit. Density was perhaps a quarter stop less than 10 stops. The color is extremely accurate, varying from my no filter control shot by about 50 degrees K cooler and (in Capture One) 2.5 greener. These are extremely small adjustments. My 10 stop B+W gives a very strong red-warm cast that is hard to eliminate completely with a grey balance, a color cross-over likely due to infrared leaking through the filter. Sharpness: using a Nikon D850, 20mm f/1.8 lens, tripod, mirror up, electronic front curtain shutter, f/8, default settings in C1, at 100% view onscreen the Haida is indistinguishable in the center from No Filter, and at the edges shows only a tiny resolution loss (typical of any filter). You have to go to 200% and compare side by side to see the subtle differences. With a longer focal length lens, I expect any differences to be even smaller. My verdict: excellent filter at a good price. I plan to buy a second in a different size and see no reason to search other brands.
