The medium, brown DPA 4066 Omnidirectional Headset Microphone MicroDot Connectorfrom DPA 4066 Omnidirectional Headset Microphone MicroDot Connectoris designed for theater and broadcast applications. The previous Legacy 4066 omnidirectional headset mic is known for working across a wide dynamic range as well as exhibiting low distortion across all SPLs. However, the Core 4066 microphone delivers a 14 dB increase in both THD (total harmonic distortion) and dynamic range, which improves clarity and openness more than the Legacy model.

The Core 4066 features a double vent protection system that works in tandem with a drop stopper and water-resistant materials in the mic, which help prevent damage from humidity. High- and soft-boost grids, along with five foam windscreens, are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I need to plug the adapter into my mixer. Is the clip removable?

A: Yes. The clip is removable.

Q: 2. Would it work with the Sennheiser EW100 G3?

A: This adaptor is for DPA to Sennheiser wiring standard: B&H # DPDAD6034

Q: 3. How does one go about the actual wiring process between the microdot connection and the xlr?

A: Simply plug the microdot on one end, and the XLR on the other, the adapter is inside.

Q: 4. Can this measure how quiet a room with some accuracy or is it strictly loudness meter?

A: According to MicW, the i437L can measure sound levels as low as 30 dBA, which may be adequate for you. If you want to measure ambient levels in special rooms, such as recording studios or other spaces where sound isolation is critical, then you may need a measurement mic with a larger diaphragm (e.g. 1/2 ) to get an accurate reading of the acoustic noise floor.

Q: 5. Can this adapter be used to connect to a dpa microphone for saxophone?

A: The Tentacle Sync DPA Microdot to 3.5mm TRS Microphone Adapter is specified for use with DPA lapel microphones. Although other DPA microphones may have compatible microdot connections, the Tentacle Sync would not be able to provide the power output they require to work properly.

Q: 6. Can I use this with a Shure 47 or Sanken COS11D Lav that has a microdot connector? If not, what is the best solution, please. Thanks

A: Any microphone with the Microdot connector is expecting a DC bias level to bias the electret capsule. Normally the microdot connector of a bodypack will have approx 5 V DC bias. This DPA adapter is not just a simple resistive divider - it has a complete circuit board with biasing circuit and buffer amplifier to drive long mic cables. I measured 8 V open-circuit, and 2.5 V with my DPA 4066 headset connected. This leads me to believe that the final DC voltage level will depend on the bias current drawn by the specific brand/model of electret mic you connect to it (but it will never exceed 8 V). So, although I have not tested the particular models you mentioned, I believe that any microphone with a microdot connector can be used with this adapter without risk of damage. This is certainly a very nicely-made adapter with no expense spared on the circuit from what I can see.

Q: 7. Is there a converter from lemo to 3.5mm ?

A: No, B&H does not offer an adapter to convert the 3-pin LEMO connector to 3.5mm. As another option, you may want to consider using the Microdot version of the Shure TwinPlex TL48 which is the Shure TwinPlex TL48 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone - Microdot, Tan (B&H # SHTL48TOMDOT). This would allow you to use the TL48 mic with a variety of Microdot adapters to enable compatibility with different wireless microphone transmitters. For 3.5mm, you could use the Deity Microphones DA35 Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter - Black (B&H # DEDA35) and for 3-pin LEMO, you can use the Deity Microphones DA3L Microdot to 3-Pin LEMO Adapter (B&H # DEKSMDTDA3L).

Q: 8. How do you connect the clip to the adapter? I'd hate to break my adapter!

A: Ease it on. Gently but firmly.

Q: 9. Is it compatible with Rode wirelless go II?

A: Yes it is we tried it in Pro Audio store with Rode wireless it works

Q: 10. can this be used with a shure twinplex lav?

A: No, the Tentacle Sync MA01 is wired for DPA microphones specifically. Other brands with microdot connections will not be compatible.

[Brown] Expensive for this small thing, but it's worth it. I've tried knock offs and they just don't hold up.

One thing to watch out for is the little clip thing on the end. It can be easily broken if dropped. Once it's broke, it will not stay hooking into a receiver and can be pulled out easily.

[Plug-In Power] It’s hard to find many reviews of headset mics, but I have to say that all the positive things I heard about the DPA d:fine line are true. The 4188 sounds amazing and especially compared the Crown CM311 and the cheaper Shure WH20 models I’ve owned. The CM311 was so uncomfortable and cumbersome and I could never dial in my sound to get close to studio quality. This is the first time I’ve actually been happy with the sound and feels like it rivals my studio mics. Love the light weight and inconspicuous appearance. I got the 120mm boom and was worried about the length but it turned out to be perfect for getting the mic to the corner of my mouth.

[0.555 lb] This is by far the cleanest sounding, extremely low noise omnidirectional mic I've owned. I absolutely love listening to the results of my recordings as I always get beautiful results. Also, they very require very little to no audio editing/treatment before I render my tracks. As of now I've owned the 2006c(stereo pair)for 4 months and I have no complaints thus far.
