A: Yes, it tends to rotate if you put something too heavy on the end but you can easily arrange it to be balanced. I rotated the boom so the stud is at about a 30 or 45 degree angle BACKWARDS. So when you put your head on it with a 3x4 softbox and angle the head down, the center weight of the head is over the boom and the boom will not rotate. I've had it setup like this for about 2 years now and haven't had any issues. It really is a great boom fro the price, once you get the center weight set on the stud.

(Those yellow painted ones from Impact)All of this sits on an Avenger C stand, and the whole setup feels very stable.
