The beige d:fine Core 4188 Slim Directional Flex Earset Mic with 100mm Boom and MicroDot Connector from DPA Microphones d:fine Core 4188 Slim Earset Miccombines the sound of the d:fine 4088 directional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible one-ear earset that offers accurate, highly intelligible speech and plenty of headroom for loud vocals. The microphone's electret-condenser capsule provides a crisp, natural sound while its cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the wearer, picking up less background sound and helping to control feedback issues on loud stages where sound reinforcement gear is used.

The flexible design is quickly and easily taken on and off and provides a fit so light and comfortable that presenters and performers will barely notice it during conference, speech, and active live performance applications. The earset is ergonomically engineered to easily adjust and fit any ear size and head shape, while, at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap out broken cables and/or microphone booms easily. The 4188 includes a makeup cover, foam windscreen, and a pop screen.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this mic be rigged on-camera?

A: Any shotgun can be rigged on camera: Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1) You will need XLR input with phantom poer. If your camera only sports a mini input, you will need some sort of an XLR adapter device such as a beachtek adapter "with phantom power) to allow the use of this mic. 2) If this is going onto a smaller form factor camera and especially if you are using a wider angle lens, this mic may be in the frame, so this may not be your best choice then and you may want to opt for a shorter microphone. 3) Shotgun mics are very sensitive to handling noise, so make sure you get a shockmount to go with this mic in order to minimize handling noise.

Q: 2. Which 48V phantom power is recommended to work with this mic?

A: Flexible Operating Voltage: 24 to 48 V phantom power.

Q: 3. Do these concealers have a back that snaps on?

A: thank you for your question. this unit is just the top portion of the concealer without a backing.

Q: 4. does it comes with xlr?

A: No, the DPA 4097 does not include an XLR adapter. The 4097 has a built-in shockmount and 4" gooseneck that terminates with a MicroDot connector. The optional XLR adapter shown in the 4th photo is the DPA Microphones DAD6001 MicroDot to 3-pin XLR Adapter with Belt Clip (B&H # DPDAD6001BC). The DAD6001 can be attached directly to the MicroDot connector at the bottom of the gooseneck (as shown in the 4th photo) and if you want to add a cable between the gooseneck and DAD6001, you could attach the DPA Microphones CM2218B00 Heavy Duty Miniature Microdot Extension Cable - 5.9', Black (B&H # DPCM2218B00) which has MicroDot connectors on both ends.

Q: 5. what is the clip that the man in video used to hold the mic onto his cloth?

A: In the video, the DPA Microphones 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun Microphone is attached to a boompole at first, and then it looks like he had clipped the mic and mini boom to his clothing using a clip like the DPA Microphones CM4099 - Clamp Mount for 4099 Instrument Microphone (B&H # DPCM4099).

Q: 6. I lost my foam windscreen for this mic, any recommendation for replacements?

A: Please review the following item. Auray WSF-2029 Foam Windscreen for Shotgun Microphones - (29cm) BH #AUWSF2029 • MFR #WSF-2029 https://bhpho.to/3GGDIgJ

Q: 7. What is the length of the 1.5" and 2.5" disposable covers? I am looking at fitting them to aircraft headset microphones with windsocks installed.

A: Both models of Auray Disposable Covers for Small-Profile Headset, Earset & Gooseneck Microphones, 1.5" and 2.5" are about 3" long.

Q: 8. Would these fit on a Rode lavalier?

A: The DPA Microphones AIR1 Universal Miniature Fur Windscreen would be suitable for the Rode Lavalier GO (B&H # ROLAVGO).

Q: 9. Is this all I need to do my microdot terminations? Thanks

A: Yes

Q: 10. I'm looking at the Cloudlifter CL-1, CL-2 (2-channel), the CL-4 (4-channel 1-up rackmount) and this CL-Z. I understand the value of a switchable high-pass filter (removing low-end rumble, etc.), but I don't understand the value of variable impedance, especially since the CL-Z appears to add a potentiometer to the signal path. Does the "knob" allow you to "tune" the mic to what sounds best to you? What are the physics behind the "Z"? Thanks for your help!

A: Each mic will have it's own resistance rating that will sound best. By being able to adjust it you can fine tune the Cloud Lifter to sound as best as it can with each mic, instead of a one size fits all option. You can also use it creatively to create sounds the mic normally would not be able to do.

[Beige] Did you know that the Mars Rover has a DPA (Danish Professional Audio) microphone built into it? The 4097 is a high SPL mic that is used by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to Faith Presbyterian Church in Sacramento. You can't find a better mic for this purpose.
