The black DPA 4288 Directional Flex Headset Mic, 120mm Boom, 1/8" Jackfrom DPA 4288 Directional Flex Headset Mic, 120mm Boom, 1/8" Jackcombines the sound of the 4088 directional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible two-ear headset. It can be used when miking needs to be fast and easy, and where the person wearing the microphone will barely feel the presence of it; such as in conference, speech, and active live performance applications.

The cardioid polar-patterned Core 4288 offers a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB decrease in THD (total harmonic distortion) over the Legacy version and is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably. It easily adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape, while at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap broken cables and/or transmitter connectors quickly. Finally, it includes a makeup cover, four windscreens, and a pop screen.

A: Hi, if you are hoping to use the VideoMic Me mounted on-camera you would be better off using the VideoMicro, which is essentially the same mic capsule and acoustics, but with the shockmount, form factor and standard 3.5mm TRS output designed for use on cameras.

Q: 10. Most demonstrations of the Rode VideoMic Me emphasize audio for closeups--either selfies or interviews. How will the mic work at greater distance from the sound source--10 feet, for example?

A: Just like any other mic, John. Camera mounted mics, boom mics...any mics sound better when you are closer and worse when you are further away. The Rode video mic does have an interference tube to help block out sound from the side, which does help. It's WAY better than the little pinhole mic in the phone. When I get further away, I use a lavalier mic. I do have a long cord, but I prefer to plug the lavalier into a small Zoom audio recorder, which fits in the pocket. Then I snyc up the sound in post. Otherwise, I keep my subject close up.

[Cardioid] After reading multiple reviews on the net, I chose this model for efficiency, cost, and reliability. So far it is working wonderfully as my husband uses it while teaching voice recognition software to respond to his speech patterns. He is a semi-retired attorney teaching paralegal studies at a local college who prefers the old fashioned classroom teaching techniques with essay homework assignments. With over 100 students a semester writing assignments every 3 days, making individual comments on each essay takes considerable time. Hopefully, the voice recognition software will speed up comments and grading with the spoken word. So far, no problems except for a tired voice. Enunciation and clarity are necessary.

[Cardioid] I use the headset for internet calls and for music. The mic works real good with voice recognition. The stereo is excellent. No stress on the ears. I would surely buy the product again and recommend it to friends.
