By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. A: No, unfortunately the VideoMic Me does not work for livestreaming.through Zoom or FaceTime on the iPhone. According to Apple, external mics do not work with iOS for video conferencing apps, although they can be used with iOS for telephone-type apps without video. For live video streaming on the iPhone, only the built-in mic will work. However, you can use the VideoMic Me for recording audio with video on the iPhone. The mic is designed to be a "selfie" style mic and will pick up audio from up to approximately 12 feet away, depending on the environment.

A: Just like any other mic, John. Camera mounted mics, boom mics...any mics sound better when you are closer and worse when you are further away. The Rode video mic does have an interference tube to help block out sound from the side, which does help. It's WAY better than the little pinhole mic in the phone. When I get further away, I use a lavalier mic. I do have a long cord, but I prefer to plug the lavalier into a small Zoom audio recorder, which fits in the pocket. Then I snyc up the sound in post. Otherwise, I keep my subject close up.
