The brown DPA 4288 Directional Flex Earset Mic, 120mm Boom, 1/8" Mini Jackfrom DPA 4288 Directional Flex Earset Mic, 120mm Boom, 1/8" Mini Jackcombines the sound of the 4088 directional capsule and Core amplifier in a lightweight and flexible one-ear earset. It can be used when miking needs to be fast and easy, and where the person wearing the microphone will barely feel the presence of it; such as in conference, speech, and active live performance applications.

The cardioid polar-patterned Core 4288 offers a 4 dB increase in dynamic range and a 14 dB decrease in THD (total harmonic distortion) over the Legacy version and is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably. It easily adjusts to fit any ear size and head shape, while at the same time, it mounts securely and is hardly visible. By rotating the boom and the ear hook, the microphone can be used on either the left or the right ear. In addition, the connector splits the cable from the microphone boom allowing you to swap broken cables and/or transmitter connectors quickly. Finally, it includes a makeup cover, four windscreens, and a pop screen.

Q: 1. I did not realize that this microphone was designed to be used on a phone with the headphone jack on the opposite end of the phone from the camera. Mine has both on the same end. Is there another microphone or a work around that you recommend using in this situation?

A: This mic is designed to be plugged into the headphone jack of the phone on either side of the camera. The mic provides a headphone output on the back of the unit for quick playback after recording. There's no need to have the mic on a specific side of the phone.

Q: 2. Can this device be use for infinix note 2 ?

A: I don't see why it wouldn't work with this model. If the Infinix note 2 has a TRRS connecter, this mic should plug in just like it does with an iPhone.

Q: 3. I just bought a Letv Le1 pro x800, it's the second phone of the company. It works on EUI, an operative system whose base is Android. Does anyone see any reasons why the mic wouldn't be working on this phone??

A: Unfortunately without testing the units we would be unable to confirm, however from specs available, the unit features a TRRS jack for headphone/mic and should work properly.

Q: 4. Several people have asked the question about using on a dslr. I would love to use this on a dslr because it has a headphone monitor and line out. My dslr doesn't have a headphone out. This device would almost solve the audio monitoring issue that most cheap dslr's have( no headphone jack out). I know that it wouldn't be the gain controlled audio from the camera but just the raw audio coming from the mic but it is better than nothing. So, It seems like this mic would work just fine for dslr, but I wanted to be 100% sure if the jack on the mic that is TRRS(the kind with the extra ring in the connector, not just a regular TRS jack) would work with a dslr camera? Does the mic need the extra ring for power?

A: Hi, you won't be able to plug this mic (with TRRS connection) into a DSLR (with TRS input). You could use the SC3 adaptor, but you will have nowhere to mount the mic to the camera. It really has only been designed for smartphones, not DSLR cameras.

Q: 5. I use a lens for my smartphone that covers the external microphone and muffles the audio, will the microphone cancel that microphone out and record the audio itself?

A: I have no problem with this mic on my Iphone7s. It gives great sound quality. Much better than your phonemic. you might want to try the moments' lens and cover for your phone. also, go to there website at it is great info on iPhone filming. They have a Youtube channel as well at shopmoment

Q: 6. Can I use this with my smartphone (galaxy s5) as a hands free device for the car? The phone is already paired with a fm Bluetooth device.

A: This mic plugs into the earphone jack, and once plugged in I would expect to get no sound from the phone as the phone will think that you are using earphones. I would suggest either asking Rode or you phone provider.

Q: 7. I understand the VideoMic Me is designed for devices where the camera is on the opposite side from the audio input jack. I have a Galaxy S5 (which has them on the same side) - would it be possible to make it work if (hypothetically) I could find a short TRRS extension cable?

A: By using a cable you will still be feeding audio into your smartphone but keep in mind the TRRS jack on the VideoMic Me is also the physical connection point that holds the mic onto the phone.

Q: 8. Will the mic work with a Google Pixel phone(android OS)?

A: Yes, this will be compatible with the Google Pixel.

Q: 9. Would this work with the iPhone 7 if you had the headphone jack adapter?

A: With the 3.5mm to lightning adapter cable, the VideoMic Me can be connected and work with the iPhone 7.

Q: 10. Will this also work on DSLRs?

A: No, it will not. The design of the friction mount included with the Rode VideoMic Me Directional Mic for Smartphones, B&H # ROVMME, makes it virtually impossible to connect to the microphone input terminal on a DSLR camera or mirrorless digital camera which normally is on the side of the camera. There are small options from Rode designed for camera usage with a different terminal connection, such as either the relatively small Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone, B&H # ROVIDEOMICRO, or the slightly larger Rode VideoMic GO Lightweight On-Camera Microphone, B&H # ROVMG, all currently similarly priced (as of the date/time of this reply).

[5 to 50 V] I was amazed when I popped this little gem onto my Samsung Note9 mobile phone. What a difference it makes in recordings, just as the reviews say. Clear, crisp, with a good volume level. I think I'm going to continue using it with the dead cat. It goes on a bit awkwardly, but once it's on, it stays. I haven't used it in a big wind, but by the way it fits snugly, with a small elastic band to hold it in place, I'm guessing a big wind won't be an issue. Great find and reasonably priced.

[0.555 lb] That's what people tell me after I plug it into my phone. So, first I start my conversation without it plugged in, then during my conversations I tell my friend, Hang on a sec...how's it sound now. The difference apparently couldn't be more obvious. Fantastic fix for my iPhone 6.

[5 to 50 V] This microphone has great audio as long as the phone is in airplane mode. If it is not, any communication over the cellular antennas causes the ticking and distortion other reviewers have mentioned. When in airplane mode though, the audio is clean. I prefer to shoot video in airplane mode anyway so my recordings are not bothered by text messages or phone calls. So, this is no big deal for me. I love the mic and the build quality.

Even the tribble looking wind cover is awesome!

[Cardioid] I shoot a lot of videos of my 2 daughters (3 & 1 year-olds) with my iPhone, and while video quality is more than acceptable, I didn't like the audio quality, especially in outdoors. With this mic, I get superior audio quality. It may not be too noticeable in controlled settings, but you will definitely see how sound behind the camera is significantly softer. I haven't tested outside yet, but I know its quality because I have been using VideoMicro for some time now. One suggestion is that I wish there was a case for the mic, since I usually carry it in my pocket, and I don't want it to get dirty or dusty in the headphone jack.

[Brown] Worked GREAT with my Samsung S8+ and I am recording the BEST audio (even in the highest of winds) without any background noise. Love the wind screen it comes with too. Fits perfect on my phone and stays tight.
