Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long do the batteries last?

A: Our customers report 2 to 4 hours continuously depending upon the microphones used.

Q: 2. Is the AC power adapter supplied ?

A: Yes, the Rolls PB23 Single Channel Phantom Power Supply includes the Rolls PS27s AC Power Adapter with purchase.

Q: 3. Could I use this to power my MKH 416 so that I can record audio straight to my A7III?

A: Yes you can, however please note this requires an AC power adapter to be plugged into the wall to run the pre-amp. Here's a battery powered solution for portability: BH #PS48PMPS.

Q: 4. Can the PS - 1A work with an Li-polymer 9V like Ipowerus instead of an Alkaline 9V ?

A: Thank you for your question. This unit will only work properly with a Alkaline or NiMH battery,.

Q: 5. I am trying to connect my Shure Microflex MX412 to my Canon Vixia HF100. I know that I'll need an XLR to mini cable to finish the connection. Will this get me part way, meaning, if I hook my mic to this will this give me enough phantom power to work?

A: This will provide phantom power to xlr mics that require it. Always have a spare battery.

Q: 6. Does this unit come with a multi-voltage AC adapter?

A: The ART PHANTOM II Pro does not ship with an AC adapter. The package will include (2) 9 volt batteries. The unit will operate on 7 -12 volts DC, and universal power supplies are available for purchase separately.

Q: 7. Does the power supply only travel in one direction? ie along the input path so it travels only to the mic?

A: Yes, the power goes to the mic only.

Q: 8. Does this work with Audio-Technica PRO 44? The instructions say it requires 9V to 52V DC phantompower.

A: 9V to 52V DC phantom power means the microphone will work providing any amount of voltage within that range. The ART PHANTOM II Pro provides 9V-48V and therefore is capable of providing sufficient power to the Audio-Technica Pro 44 microphone.

Q: 9. my battery door is broken. there is a little gold piece like a washer for the screw to thread into...but this piece is not attached to anything so the screw won't turn to hold the door closed. has anyone had this problem...and if so...any fixes other than tape? i have had the item less than a year...so i am a bit bummed.

A: The gold piece is a brass nut that is pressed in a hole and held by friction. It most likely came loose by overtightening of the door screw. The solution is to disassemble the whole back panel and to carefull hammer the periphery of the hole with a ball pen hammer to make it a little smaller. Press the brass nut back into the hole and reassemble the back plate. Do not overtighten the door screw.

Q: 10. How long do the batteries last with output set to 48V? Also they state that the 7-12V AC adapter, but what's the AC adapter's minimum amperage?

A: My experience with one Sure Lav Mic has been at least 8 hours battery life on a video shoot. Good for Field work where you are not guaranteed power. I do not know the amperage minimum for the AC adapter but I can't believe it is anything under .5A. Check the spec sheet put our by Manufacturer. There are a ton of Universal AC's adapters available

[10 Hz to 25 kHz] I bought this to power my active DI box which is connected to my rack compressor and equalizer. It works exactly as designed. The connector jacks are very solid, the power plug doesn't come unplugged, and the unit itself uses very little power (and therefore doesn't heat up).

[1.845 lb] Within the past year I've run across a second board/snake combination that makes dynamic mics sound like junk when phantom power is enabled. It could have been a wiring problem in the boards, a wiring problem in the snakes, or even a wiring problem in the mics themselves. Rather than spend billable hours troubleshooting the problem, I made an end run around it by buying this power supply for my SM86 so the boards' phantom voltages can be left off. It makes my mic sound great even under loud vocals. Sound quality is classic pristine condenser, with that unique airy top end, and totally without spit, which tells me the power supply is doing its job. Physically, this thing seems very well built. It's a lot heavier than I expected, and the case quality is outstanding, which means it'll take a lot of road abuse. This is my fourth ART product -- the other three are a Tube MP preamp, an SLA-2 power amp that I use in one of my bass guitar rack setups, and a USB Phono Plus. All have been fantastic, well built, and 100% reliable. Nothing to dislike about this one. It just sits there on the floor and does its job so I can do mine. Highly recommended, especially if you've got better things to do than figure out why console phantom isn't working right because some board or snake or mic manufacturer didn't build his hardware to spec. 5 out of 5 stars.

[14 mA] I use the Rolls PB23 to provide phantom power for instrument clip-on microphones that plug into an instrument amp without phantom power built in. The PB23 is tiny and inconspicuous, well built, and very clean sounding. I recommend it on my website for customers who need phantom power for their microphones. -- Bruce Bartlett, ...........

[1.3 lb (590 g)] I am using them with Behringer B5s in a location where existing long cable runs pick up lots of radio. Using these and with XLR to TA4f converters with wireless transmitters eliminates the problem and gets me pristine sound! In testing I also tried them with Crown PCC-160s and did get some hum, but not with the B5s...which is what I needed...so I did not investigate further.
