The 4 x 5.65", 2- to 1-stop Cokin Z-Pro Reverse-Graduated ND Filter 4x5.65"is designed for use with a Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder. It can be applied to darken bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.

This filter achieves its effect with a 0.6 band of density across its center region that provides a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens. This band extends in both vertical directions which tapers to a 0.3 density that provides a 1-stop reduction in light at the edge above it. Directly below the 0.6 band of density, it tapers to clear, with a soft-edged line of transition before the clear area.

The placement of a 0.6 band of density that tapers to a density of 0.3 above it with a clear area directly below, allows the Cokin NUANCES Extreme Z-Pro Series Soft-Edge Reverse-Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 to 0.3 Filter to match the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon. In such instances, the sun can appear closer to the center of an image as opposed to the upper edge, and an increase in brightness is created that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it. This pattern of brightness corresponds to the density pattern on the Cokin NUANCES Extreme Z-Pro Series Soft-Edge Reverse-Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 to 0.3 Filter. The soft-edged line of transition in this reverse, graduated neutral density filter is useful for soft transitions between the sky and land, while the 2-stop to 1-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.

Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters are constructed from tempered, shock-resistant glass and feature nano-metallic alloy film coatings on both sides of the filter surface to attenuate infrared light while maintaining true color fidelity, even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters. Anti-glare coatings further help to reduce surface reflections for increased contrast and clarity, while additional hydrophobic coatings result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency. Additionally, Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters feature C-shaped edges. This rounded edge shape resists chipping to further enhance durability.

  • This filter is compatible with a Z-Pro Series Filter Holder.
  • Effectively darkens bright skies, specifically during a sunrise or sunset, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image.
  • 2-stop band of density that tapers to a 1-stop density at the edge above it while directly above a clear area creates a neutral density pattern that matches the positioning of the sun when it is at, or immediately above the horizon.
  • 2-stop band of density extends in both vertical directions.
  • Density pattern corresponds to the brightness pattern of the sun when it appears at or is closer to the horizon as opposed to a higher angle, which creates an increase in brightness that is more prominent on both sides of the sun than above it.
  • Soft-edged line of transition between the 2-stop band of density and the clear area below it is useful for images where the transition between sky and foreground is indeterminate, such as images featuring mist, fog, or the tops of trees.
  • 2-stop to 1-stop gradation is applicable to multiple regions of brightness within the sky.
  • Filter does not affect the overall coloration of the image.
  • Tempered, shock-resistant glass construction maintains high optical clarity with low reflectivity.
  • A nano-metallic alloy applied to both sides of the filter attenuates infrared light and ensures neutral coloration even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters.
  • Anti-glare coatings help to reduce surface reflections for increased contrast and color fidelity.
  • Hydrophobic coatings result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.
  • C-shaped edges resist chipping. further enhancing durability.
  • Padded filter pouch included for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the outside diameter of this ring?? cant find this anywhere on the web haha

A: Its basically 77mm plus the thickness of the very thin metal. So maybe 79mm total. But all that should concern you is that a 77mm diameter filter will fit in it.

Q: 2. What is the difference between the standard Cokin Z-pro filter holder and the 2018 edition Cokin Z-pro filter holder?

A: Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder (2018 Edition) and the other one not listed as 2018 are the same. One is just an updated version of the other. But there really is not any change/difference between them.

Q: 3. Hi I bought a Canon 14mm Prime L, but i sm not sure if this is the adapter ring for my 14mm?

A: The Canon 14mm lens has a built-in lens hood and a bulging front element. Therefore, you won't be able to use an adapter that is designed to be screwed onto the lens such as the Cokin Z-Pro filter holder. Check out adapters that are specifically made for your lens, such as the Lee SW150 Mark II. Hope this helps.

Q: 4. What are the filter dimensions? 100x100 mm?

A: Cokin*

Q: 5. What is the outside diameter of this ring ?

A: The Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder Adapter Ring (67mm) has an outer dimater of roughly 100mm. This is meant to perfectly fit the Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder.

Q: 6. I am not sure what the .75mm pitch means on this? There are some rings that are .75mm pitch, and others do not? How do I know which I need?

A: ITS THE THREAD PITCH, ITS THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE.

Q: 7. Please what is the outer (unthreaded)diameter of this adapter? To work strait on my Chromatek compendium it should be 10.8mm.Can't find the original adapters anywhare..Thank YOu so much for telling me :-)

A: The Cokin 82mm Z-Pro Adapter Ring is 4 in diameter.

Q: 8. Can all three be stacked to view solar eclipse?

A: No. They may cut down on the visible wavelengths of light, but won't do anything about the infrared light which will still fry your eyeball and camera electronics.

Q: 9. how does this attach to the lens? will it work with a lens with a 95mm filter ring?

A: The following 95mm adapter rings can fit the Cokin Z holder: https://bhpho.to/31LpXxd

Q: 10. Can I use this adapter on a brass 55-67 step up ring as have two different lenses?

A: Yes, you can you a step-up ring adapter, 55-67. So, you can use the same Cokin ring for lenses that use a 55mm filter thread.

[0.46 lb] This filter is great. I use it with Nikon D850 and the images are awesome. I have used those plastic filters and was always scratching them. I have not drop it yet so I'm not sure how it will hold up on rocky terrain. I believe it will hold up on Sand or grass just fine. With higher mega pixels bodies you need to put good filters on your lenses or don't use one at all because it will show in your images.

[0.46 lb] After going through several resin type filters I knew I didn't I needed something more scratch resistant... So the Tiffen glass filter was the right choice.

[0.46 lb] It darkened the sky nicely in my test shots. I could not detect any loss of image quality or sharpness caused by shooting through the filter. It made the sky appear to be a deeper blue and gave more contrast to the clouds. Cokin filters worked for me back in the Kodachrome era, and are still a viable choice in the digital age.
