The 130 x 130mm Cokin NUANCES Extreme X-Pro ND Filter 130x130mm 10-Stophas a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction and is designed for use with a Cokin X-Pro Series Filter Holder. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters are constructed from tempered, shock-resistant glass and feature nano-metallic alloy film coatings on both sides of the filter surface to attenuate infrared light while maintaining true color fidelity, even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters. Anti-glare coatings further help to reduce surface reflections for increased contrast and clarity, while additional hydrophobic coatings result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency. Additionally, Cokin NUANCES Extreme filters feature C-shaped edges. This rounded edge shape resists chipping to further enhance durability.

For use with a Cokin X-Pro Series Filter Holder, a light-blocking gasket is included. This gasket forms a seal that is intended to prevent stray light, which could have unwanted effects on exposure, from coming in between the filter and the lens behind it.

Providing a 10-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.

Tempered, shock-resistant glass construction maintains high optical clarity with low reflectivity.

A nano-metallic alloy applied to both sides of the filter attenuates infrared light and ensures neutral coloration even when stacked with other Cokin NUANCES or NUANCES Extreme filters.

Anti-glare coatings help to reduce surface reflections for increased contrast and color fidelity.

Hydrophobic coatings result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

C-shaped edges resist chipping to further enhance durability.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why is the 6 stop density more expensive than the 10 stop?

A: More popular items tend to be priced higher than non popular items. It's basically were the manufacturer priced the filter according to demand.

Q: 2. Will it fit in Cokin P series holder? Your site is showing P series holder in it's accessories. I have little doubt on it

A: Not directly, no. The Cokin P-series filter holder is designed for use with smaller 85 x 85mm filters, while the Ice Z-Pro Series ND1000 Solid Neutral Density 3.0 Filter (10 Stop) and the Cokin Z-PRO holder is a/uses the larger 100 x 100mm filters. To use the Ice Z-Pro Series ND1000 Solid Neutral Density 3.0 Filter (10 Stop) with the Cokin P-series filter holder, you would need to purchase the Cokin Step-Up Adapter for P-Series Filter Holder to Z-PRO Series Filter, B&H # COZPA.

Q: 3. What is "Ice" as in Ice P Series ND1000?

A: Ice is another brand of filter which works with the Cokin P filter holder.

Q: 4. Will this work and the Rokinon 12mm without vignetting?

A: Yes. This will work on the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens without vignetting.

Q: 5. What is the signifigance of no coating? Is this primarily a durability/longevity concern and would stacking multiple uncoated filters or mixing a coated filter and uncoated polarizer make a difference for my image?

A: The coating of glass surfaces used in filters and camera lenses is a long standing practice. It has been shown to significantly reduce wanted reflections. These reflections can reduce contrast, color and sharpness. Of course, coatings increases cost. I would say that the price of this filter is very attractive due because it is not coated. I am guessing that since this is a 10 stop ND, the manufacturer is regarding the dropping of the coating turns this into a win-win: you get 10 stops ND for less money.

Q: 6. My widest lens is a Nikon 17-35mm f: 2.8. Has anyone used this filter with this lens and seen any vignetting?

A: No issue with 16-24 lens on Canon 6D.

Q: 7. Any noticeable color cast on images with this filter?

A: There is a slight color cast but not too noticeable, this filter is considerably better than most.

Q: 8. I see a lot of reviews saying images are sharp with this filter but, has anyone here done an actual comparison pixel by pixel?

A: not I. But bear in mind that all this is is a sunshade. If it is clean, it should simply reduce the amount of light getting to your sensor. It has nothing to do with focus.

Q: 9. Does this filter have a "normal" stop where it acts like a UV filter and doesn't darken the image or will automatically darken when put on?

A: This filter is always darkening the image by 10 stops. This is not a variable filter, it is a fixed 10 stop ND filter.

Q: 10. Does it fit lee holder?

A: Yes.

[0.535 lb] This filter is great. I use it with Nikon D850 and the images are awesome. I have used those plastic filters and was always scratching them. I have not drop it yet so I'm not sure how it will hold up on rocky terrain. I believe it will hold up on Sand or grass just fine. With higher mega pixels bodies you need to put good filters on your lenses or don't use one at all because it will show in your images.

[0.535 lb] This does what it should do without breaking the bank. I see no image degradation with my Leica lenses.

[0.535 lb] I discovered the Cokin Nuance Clearly filters when I ran into light pollution problems while taking pictures of the Perseid meteor shower last year. These filters take out all the brown/orange gradient in the sky, and I actually pick up some color in the stars. They work perfectly with my deep sky astrophotography rig, and I really like the way they can accent autumn colors in daylight work.

[0.535 lb] The filter is well made and attached to the camera easily. It should last a long time.

[0.535 lb] This was the first time I have used a RVRS GRAD and like the results. In did a great job of allowing more light in the foreground area, Bring down the Sunset light , and bring the sky light from a white to the blue/gray. I did bring the filter up to high and was able to get that light blue look on the bottom of the clouds. As I use the filter more, I will try and update the review. See attached photos.
