Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can lights be switch off?

A: Yes there is a switch to do so.

Q: 2. Power it by my powered usb hub? I see no reason at all it that it needs to use a PC usb port. There's no data involved

A: Yes, the Thermaltake cooling pad can also be powered via a USB hub. Please note that the USB hub must also have its own power source.

Q: 3. I like that you only need to press a lever to adjust the wooden handgrips. If I remove the wooden handgrips and replace them with the Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Lens Control System, will I maintain the functionality of the levers?

A: To use another brand of handgrips, you would need one or two of these to mount on the Zacuto Wooden Dual Trigger Grips. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1423415-REG/zacuto_z_tg_rr_rosette_relocator_c200_ursa.html

Q: 4. Does this have the new Version 2 system upgrade?

A: The OCTAPAD SPD-30 is available by special order so it will be shipped to B&H directly from Roland only when we receive orders from customers. The item will be the most recent version available from Roland.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with Alesis electronic drum sets?

A: This kick drum pedal trigger is made for Roland V-Drums, but can work as a trigger for Alesis electric drums.

Q: 6. What type of 32GB SDHC card should I get? Which class?

A: The Roland TM-2 will function well with any card Class 4 or above. Digital audio is a steady stream of data not requiring a fast read/write speed such as a camera.

Q: 7. This includes the tilta grips right?

A: No, the Tilta Nucleus-M FIZ Handgrips are not included.

Q: 8. Lost charging cable. Which one works? The normal double USB is not power transmitting so I cannot use my pad since I bought it :( Please advise which cable exactly from your website I can purchase to charge this device.

A: I am very sorry but it looks like we do not have the USB-A splitter. If you are still within the warranty period, I recommend that you reach out to the manufacturer to get a replacement cable for the Thermaltake Massive 14 Laptop Cooling Pad with Dual LED Fans.

Q: 9. Is this a balanced cable?

A: No, the Roland Black Series 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TS Cable is an unbalanced cable.

Q: 10. Will this work sitting on your lap?

A: The device draws air from the underside while being supported by small flip down legs. Anything that would restrict the flow of fresh air from the underside would significantly reduce the efficiency and most likely defeat the intended purpose. I found that even loose papers should not be allowed on the underside. Hope this helps....

[4.6 lb / 2.1 kg] you're not going to win any style points by using this, and if you're in a room above someone (apartment complex, etc), the down-firing beater transmits directly into the floor, so you may want to avoid this. Beyond that, however, it works perfectly fine, and doesn't take up much space. This is my second KD7, the first of which stopped responding to soft hits after about 3 years of abuse (5+ days a week, 2-4 hours a day, on average). I imagine I could've gotten away cheaper w/ a piezo replacement, but I figured I'd order a new one and try to fix the old one eventually. Anyhow... works great.

[7.11 lb] I like it! I have an acoustic drum set but have wanted additional sounds without hauling additional devices around. I have a cowbell. I want a deeper one as well. I want occasional roto toms, Timbales, electronic toms, chime tree, gong, even bass drum with my hand. I got a footboard pad as well and can play any sound with my module with my left foot, especially snare drum or cowbell. I've just discovered many new possibilities! The BT1 is a perfect size with many mounting possibilities. Since I move it from two drum sets and my practice set, I decided to mount it on a separate stand and it stays in front of my snare drum. It's out of the way unless I want to play it with either hand. So far it seems to be a durable piece of equipment. It's a basic plug it in to a sound module and play it. There are a couple set up adjustments for sound level and sensitivity. I wasn't getting every beat I played on it. But then I got the bright idea to reread setup and found in my module settings a specific BT1 input for sound pad. That put sensitivity and other levels perfect and now I love it! I definitely recommend it!

[2 (head, rim)] I've used an S&S Industries kick trigger with my DW5000 since 1996. The KD-7 was very easy to attach to my DW Pedal, plays just like my S&S, has wonderful sensitivity and sounds great with my TD-5 brain.

[7.11 lb] I use this unit with an old beat up td5 as my second kick mixed into the first. Came with the reverse beater (not the pedal in case you are readin this) and was readily adaptable to any pedal. Seriously happy with it, NO ISSUES!

[4.6 lb / 2.1 kg] Before buying the kd7 I bought the pintech ergokik and the kat percussion kick trigger. Both broke within a month. Not only has the kd7 lasted longer than both of those, the build quality is much better, and the triggering is much smoother and consistent. Don't waste time with the others. The Roland is a bit more money but definitely worth the extra expense.

[2 (head, rim)] Adding to my VDrum configuration was easy with the assistance of the great people at B&H. I bought my original TD25KV's from B&H last month and added the PDX-100 pad as an extra floor time. It works great. I now enjoy playing the drums again like I did over twenty years ago. The fine folks at B&H made it all possible and the quality of the Roland VDrums are just what I asked for.
