Presented in a yellow body with a black grille, the Telefunken M81 Supercardioid Dynamic Microphone Yellow Blackdelivers the sonic essence of a condenser in a rugged dynamic design. It features a wide 50 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response and high maximum SPL of 135 dB, making it equally suitable for voice, instruments, or drums onstage and in the studio. Its tonal character is tuned to soften bright or thin sources and yield a stronger emphasis on midrange clarity.

The M81's head and capsule assembly is designed to reduce proximity effect while still providing present bass. Its supercardioid polar pattern provides enhanced off-axis rejection and high immunity to feedback. The M81 also features a custom-wound Telefunken T80 transformer. It ships with a mic clip and leather storage bag.

[Supercardioid] removes the problem of people handling the microphone incorrectly. Makes an amateur sound like a pro with no handling noise. Beginners will often cup the mic or hold it by its head giving a hollow sound. This microphone eliminates that problem.

[Solid-State] This mic is literally the best mic I have EVER used on stage. It has the ability to make bad PA systems and bad speakers sound amazing. This mic is a MUST have if you sing live. This mix has also been amazing in the studio when I mic snare drums. The frequency response is superior to any other mic I've used.

[End Address] I've used the SM58 for years and decided it was time for an upgrade after doing a show where my vocals just didn't cut through. The clarity of the M80 is far superior to the SM58 and it feels like it is built rock solid. I'm still getting used to the nuances of this mic during live performances, but haven't had any issues with the change. I've read lots of reviews that these are great for recording, etc but I haven't used it for that so I cannot comment.

[1" / 25 mm] As a professional audio engineer, this is the most natural sounding dynamic handheld mic I have heard. A little bit of handling noise, and susceptible to plosives, but nothing a mic stand and windscreen can't fix.
