Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the width of grips?

A: The Matthews Matthellini Clamp offers a 4 inch wide handle.

Q: 2. What is the difference in functionality between the center jaw and the end jaw configuration of the Matthellini?

A: The end jaw model can be an easier fit in tight spaces since you don't need to have space for the fastening handle to stick out behind what you're mounting. The center jaw model is more stable under load since it keeps mounted weight closer to the jaws.

Q: 3. Can you remove the ball on this and if so what size is the thread?

A: If you heat up the lock tight you can remove the ball currently 3/8-16

Q: 4. How longer is the metal rod/stud (I dont know the proper word for it, hope you understand what I mean)?

A: The following unit comes in at 5 inches.

Q: 5. Can two of these Matthews Matthellini Clamps be attached together for a parallel double clamp?

A: Not at this time.

Q: 6. What size pipe can the clamp fit around? Will it grip, say, a 4 pipe?

A: The jaws will certainly open up that far, but it will not get a very good bite on the pipe once you start to tighten it. I just tried it on some 3 pipe and the jaws can't get a good wrap on the pipe.

Q: 7. is there a mid-jaw version or only an end-jaw version?

A: Unfortunately, this clamp only comes in an end jaw version.

Q: 8. how much weight can this support? thanks

A: This item does not have a specified limit.

Q: 9. What is the overall length of this from end to end?

A: From the top of the clamp to the end of the post, it's approximately 7.125 .

Q: 10. Will this item clamp securely to 2 square piping?

A: Yes, the Matthellini clamp is designed to securely mount onto square as well as round piping.

[Jaw] It's a cardellini clamp. You either have none of these, or lots of them -- different sizes and configurations.

I wanted black ones ... in different sizes and configurations. I also wanted the best of the best, so I trusted my clamp needs to Matthews.

It just ... works. It does what I need it to do, every time. I have yet to come across a situation where these clamps cannot handle the task at hand, or where I have to spend any extra energy coming up with a creative solution. Instead, I just clamp, clamp, clamp, mount my gear, and everyone is happy.

This is quality and functionality you can depend on.

[1.49 lb] In addition holding lights etc. it's great for holding a mic boom pole, in combination with a grip head and light stand, on set when working alone as a videographer and sound man. I've also used this same combination of clamp, grip head and stand to hold an umbrella to shade a camera on out door shoots. Very well made. I'm sure it will last a long time.

[Silver] To me, cardellini's are always more reliable than mafers. This Matthellini style cardellini clamp is no exception. I'm confident hanging Kino Flo and 1k's from this clamp. It's size makes it easy to put in smaller areas. Matthews is also one of the top grip equipment companies, so you're getting a great product.

[Metal] I needed something to hold my Scrim Jim, strobes, etc. and this does the job well. It adjusts very fast and holds tight. I like these better than the super clamps. The inside of the clamps is very rough and similar to a grip tape or stair tread material but more corse. One good spin on the handle and it will adjust all the way to the top. This is also much faster than the super clamp.
