Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the forwarding rate for this switch?

A: Netgear does not specify this. But here is the data sheet for some other helpful information on this switch. https://www.netgear.com/media/GS108LP_GS108PP_GS116LP_GS116PP_DS_tcm148-68424.pdf

Q: 2. Can two of these switches be daisy chained and if so does it have AutoMdix capability or is a Patch style cable required?

A: The Netgear GS308EP 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch features auto-MDI/MDIX.

Q: 3. If I have a 24vdc Access point that takes .5 amps will this damage it? I see that it is 1.2amps

A: The amount of current in the scenario you present will not be as critical as the wattage required by the end device. The rating indicates the maximum amperage that can be provided. The primary factor in PoE is wattage.

Q: 4. Is it L2/L3 switch or just L2?

A: Yes, this Netgear GS308EP 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch is possible to work as L3. https://bit.ly/4aVmhYv

Q: 5. How does the Nano switch get power?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks NanoSwitch Outdoor 4-Port PoE Passthrough Switch would require a POE in to get the original source of power.

Q: 6. What are the temperature ranges for this device?

A: The operating temperature for this switch is 32 to 104°F / 0 to 40°C.

Q: 7. What is the total power available for PoE?

A: It doesn't provide PoE

Q: 8. Is this v2 version?

A: Unfortunately, we are unable to check the serial, batch, firmware or OS version of the Netgear ProSafe Plus 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch BH #NEGS105E200.

Q: 9. Is it possible to plug a non-POE unit into this switch without damaging the non-POE device?

A: Yes. It is possible to plug a non-POE unit into the Netgear 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Unmanaged Switch.

Q: 10. I use one of these for our (AVB) audio network, but would it work for an NDI network (Using a separate network)? I'm looking for a POE switch with an ethercon connector for a portable setup (running only 2 Cat6 (or6a) ethernet cables from FOH to stage), one for NDI video and one for AVB audio. (AVB video not an option)

A: The PreSonus SW5E 5-Port AVB Switch with PoE appears to only offer compatibility with AVB products and does not specify compatibility for use with other network protocols such as NDI.

[60 W] ... to work work with my media room, where the main line comes into the house, and before it heads to my studio.

Works great and plug and play ease of set up.

Good delivery, too.

[30 to 60 W] This switch was purchased for the PoE+ feature. I don't need all of the management features - just a simple network connection that is able to supply power to the end devices. It's working great.

[48 to 57 VDC] My old switch (another brand and the only non Netgear switch) failed. Looked at several models and settled on this one. PoE is a nice plus but I don't have a need or it right now but it is a nice feature to have. Devices connect and buzz the internet with no problems. No complaints

[768 Kb] I needed a fanless ethernet switch with PoE+ for cameras and WiFi access points. This does the job well. I like that all ports can do PoE and that the unit is small. It comes with mounting screws and even rack mount ears.

[2K] I used this switch daisy-chained from another Netgear GS108 (non PoE), to connect my TV equipment to my wired network (TV, Sat Receiver, DVD, Chromecast Ultra.  Soundbar w/Google Assistant coming soon).  I want to free my WiFi from carrying everything, and not have 5 ethernet cables traveling halfway across my house, plus still have room for expansion.  I just plugged everything in and it all instantly worked!  Although I am not currently utilizing the PoE function, I plan on getting PoE IP cameras very soon.  I plan to purchase another and spread my wired network to the other side of the house too.

[0.89 Mpps] Its a nice looking unit, seems well built, but you have to watch the power budget for the cameras you are using, it only has 60 watt budget and for the ptz cameras I am using I can only put 2 cameras on this switch.
