The MKE Essential small condenser microphone brings warmth and brilliance to every stage voice. Even at high input volumes, the signal remains distortion-free. The updated KE 4 capsule inherits its high standards from the MKE 2, but is suitable for smaller productions.

Highly sensitive on the one hand, stage-safe on the other—the capsule of the MKE Essential Omni is protected against all forms of moisture (typically sweat) by a patented, ultra-light tandem membrane. This not only protects the signal, but also your investment in high-quality miking. All cable connections are also designed for tensile strength.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this compare to the ME 2-II microphone (which came with my G4 wireless system)? The original mic has gone bad so I need to replace it and am trying to determine which mic is best for documentary filmmaking between this one, ME2 and MKE2 (which is really outside of my budget currently).

A: This mic is designed for use on the stage and has some features particular to that aplication, like more flexable cords, higher SPL levels and sweat restance. For shooting documentary footage the ME-2 would be a better choice.

Q: 2. Is this mic I can use it with transmitter G4 ,like mke2 gold and any lavalier?

A: No, this version with an XLR connector will not work with a G4 transmitter. You will need the Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector (BH #SEMKE2EWG).

Q: 3. If I have a zoom recorder, which can output 24 or 48 phantom power, which is better to choose for this mic or it doesn't matter?

A: The Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with XLR Connector & MZ 2 Accessory Set accepts anywhere between 13 and 48 volts of phantom power. To avoid confusion when using the same input for other microphones, it might be simplest to use 48v.

Q: 4. What is the difference between mke2-p-k and mke2-p-c products?

A: MKE2-P-C: Small Size For Concealed Placement , Successor to the Broadway-proven MKE 2 Red Dot: Max SPL: 130dB ------------------------------------------------MKE2-P-K: MAX SPL: 103dB

Q: 5. Is it possible to put the Sennheiser MKE Essential with the RODELink Filmmaker Kit even if the Rodeling has a 4 V plug-in power supply?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser MKE Essential Omnidirectional Microphone with 3.5mm Connector can be paired with the Rode RODELink Filmmaker Kit Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System.

Q: 6. Is it good for instruments, like MKE 2? does it work with rode wireless go?

A: The sound quality of this is very similar to the MKE2, but it's omnidirectional pickup may not be best for all instrument micing situations. This would be compatible with the Rode Wireless Go, as it uses the same 3.5mm wiring as most Sennheiser transmitters.

Q: 7. What's the most space efficient wired device to get phantom power to the MKE-2 and connect it to a USB-C on a Mac? I'm only recording wired on a Mac desktop with the MKE-2. Thank you so much.

A: Take a look at this interface by Shure its the Motiv MVI https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1594654-REG/shure_mvi_dig_motiv_mvi_digital_audio.html/overview

Q: 8. I need a quality lavalier for recording training webinars and have read great things about MKE-2. I will feed lavalier into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo which has phantom power and XLR input. Will MKE-2 with XLR (this listing) plug directly into the Focusrite or do I need some kind of power converter btw the MKE-2 and the focusrite? Someone mentioned to me I need a MZA900P in-line preamp or a K6? Can someone clarify? Confused...

A: The MKE 2 P-C will ship with an XLR connection and will connect and work with the Focusrite interface when using phantom power. No additional preamp needed.

Q: 9. Is it possible to put with the RODELink Filmmaker Kit the Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold even if it is equipped to supply 7.5 V via a Sennheiser wiring configuration and the Rodeling has a 4 V plug-in power supply?

A: The Rode RODELink Filmmaker Kit Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System will power the Sennheiser MKE Essential Omnidirectional Microphone with 3.5mm Connector.

Q: 10. Does this mic work with the Tascam DR-10L Pro recorder?

A: The Sennheiser MKE Essential Omnidirectional Microphone with 3.5mm Connector is compatible with the Tascam DR-10L Pro Field Recorder.

[0.115 lb] Yes, there are better mics at $400. There are also much cheaper mics that are almost as good. But this is a great mid-tier option. I don't worry too much about placement, it always seems to do a good job with pickup and not getting external fabric, wind, etc.

[0.115 lb] Beautiful full rich sound, while remaining very stable outdoors and getting very little background noise. Didn't realize it came with a hard case, that was an added bonus! We are extremely pleased with the mic's performance.

[Plug-In Power] In response to another post, the MKE 2 Digital works fine with other (better) apps, such as Twisted Wave.
