With a small and lightweight form factor, the green Hawke Sport Optics 10x25 Nature-Trek Monocular Greenfeatures a compact phase-corrected BAK4 roof prism and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics. These combine to make a versatile and capable optic that produces bright and clear images with accurate color rendition. A powerful 10x magnification helps to bring distant subjects in close for detailed observations and the 25mm objective, coupled with the optical features, makes the Nature-Trek ideally suited for most quick and casual glassing needs.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the monocular durable and comfortable to use. These details start with a lightweight, impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis that is protected by green rubberized armor. This armoring is textured to give it a non-slip grip, especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tube is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof—especially in extreme weather conditions. A simple diopter ring focuser allows the monocular to be quickly and easily focused, and the twist-up eyecup provides comfortable use with or without eyewear.

Q: 1. My eyes have different prescriptions. Does anyone know if the Celestron 8x42 Nature DX has a dioptric correction feature?

A: Yes, very straight forward to use given the lens covers. 1) Cover the right lens (the one with the dioptric correction wheel) look at some object and focus using middle focus wheel, 2) Uncover the Right Lens and cover the left lens, while looking at the same object, adjust the dioprric wheel for a sharp image.Jim

[Roof (BAK4)] I purchased this for my wife so she could use it to watch birds and nature. She loves it!
Easy to use with one hand, clear viewing. The water proof feature will prove to be the right way to go since she and I are outside quite a bit.

[Roof (BAK4)] Prior to this purchase, I owned 2 compact binoculars and two monoculars that I would mostly use for travel and wildlife viewing. I was searching for something in a sub $200 price range that would provide excellent optical quality, give a brighter image than what I already have and be light enough that I wouldn’t mind carrying along on my trips and hikes. After reading many reviews and watching a few YouTube videos, I decided to purchase the Hawke Endurance ED 10x42 monocular. Unfortunately it was a little hard to find and often sold out at many of the stores, but with some patience I was finally able to buy one and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. I’m incredibly impressed by the brightness and clarity of the image. It’s a dramatic improvement over my binoculars and definitely a few steps up from my other monoculars. The image is bright and crystal clear from edge to edge. The image rivals my Canon L-lens which are the finest optical equipment that I own. For just over $110, you will not be disappointed!

[25 mm] I purchased this monocular mostly for camping and  hiking. I am a photographer and I have a couple of military-type optical devices, but I wanted something small and lignt and powerful.  I think this monocular was the good choice.

What I like about it:
1. Bright optics, so you can see in low light. Comparing to my old 8x monocular, the field is much brighter and colors are natural.
2. It is easy to focus and picture  is really sharp
3. Good resolution not only in the center of the field, but also closer to edges.
4. Weight - it is really light
5. I wear glasses, but this monocular allows me to wear my glasses and see almost all field
6. This monocular can focus much closer than my other monocular.

What I do not like about it:
1. Just one little thing: it is easy to loose rear lens cap because it is not attached to the monocular  the same way as  the front lens cap.

In conclusion, I would recommed this monocular to a friend.

[13 mm] The ED glass makes a huge difference in image quality. The
resolution beats out non-ED 12X and 15X scopes; 10X, in my opinion, for the most part is optimal for good efficiency, time-saving practicality, and is even the most bang for the optical buck over greater magnifications with monoculars.

I use it for bird watching, visits to the zoo, sporting events,
concerts, even field reconnaissance for surveying purposes. I find that the tripod attachment thread is a great feature for image stability, and in fact a monopod is all I need to achieve fast setup and object finding. The image in that case is not perfectly still, of course, but even the single foot of the monopod placed on the ground reduces shakiness by an enormous amount.

For an even faster setup and finding, I simply raise the entire
monopod off the ground and rotate it by 0-90 degrees, whatever's convenient, to achieve a counterweight balance to my own weight (be careful around bystanders when swinging the pole!) This definitely still helps to stabilize the objective of the monocular, even though the monopod is not planted on the ground. The scope is of course rotated as you look through it, but the rotation makes no difference! It is not possible to use binoculars in this way--giving the giving the monopod-monocular combination a definite kind of advantage for certain kinds of spotting. Not to mention you can simply leave the scope on the monopod and now you have a convenient walking stick.
