Compact and lightweight and outfitted with a powerful magnification that brings distant subjects in close for detailed observation, the green Hawke Sport Optics 10x42 Nature-Trek Monocular Greenfeatures a compact phase-corrected BAK4 roof prism and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics that work together to produce a versatile and capable optic with bright and clear color-accurate views. Its 42mm objective, coupled with the optical features and generous angle of view, makes the Nature-Trek ideally suited for most quick and casual glassing needs.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make the monocular durable and comfortable to use. These details start with a lightweight, impact and corrosion-resistant polycarbonate chassis that is protected by green rubberized armor. This armoring is textured to give it a non-slip grip, especially in cold and wet conditions. The optical tube is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof—especially in extreme weather conditions. A standard 1/4"-20 mount allows the monocular to be used as a mini-spotting scope when placed on a tripod or other support system for hunting, shooting, or bird and nature watching.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would these binoculars survive if they are fully submerged?

A: They are not rated for submersion.

Q: 2. What is the physical size of this?

A: About 4.5 inches long.

Q: 3. Do you need a tripod when using these?

A: A tripod is not required but is recommended to help keep your binocular steady while digiscoping.

Q: 4. Where are the binoculars made?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 5. Why does it say "close-to-midrange observations"? Does it mean that it is not recommended for infinity focus (e.g. stars)?

A: It will not focus closer than 6.5 feet it will focus to infinity but magnification is only 8X If you want longer range consider 10X

Q: 6. Does a carry case and strap come with the binoculars?

A: Yes. The Nature DX binoculars come with a carry case, neck strap and protective lens covers. Very nice product. Patrick L.

Q: 7. Would this work for night time football?

A: Yes of course its going to be under the lights anyway

Q: 8. What is the minimum focal distance for this monocular?

A: About 6 yards

Q: 9. My husband and I are going on a safari and these binoculars were recommended. Are they a good fit for safari or should I be looking at others?

A: I bought a pair of these two years ago, mostly for use at our country retreat outside Ithaca, NY. Deciding factor was the close focusing ability, though they are fine at a distance, as well. They seem virtually equal to a pair of Eagle binoculars I got for a birthday present some six years ago. Only thing about roof prisms is they provide less stereo separation at a distance. But issues like color fringing, collimation are negligible. A very good value. Was just watching a flock of cedar waxwings eating hawthorn blossoms with gusto.

Q: 10. Can you put this up to your cell phone camera and take pictures on you phone with it?

A: Yes, it is possible.

[1/4"-20 Female] I purchased this monocular mostly for camping and  hiking. I am a photographer and I have a couple of military-type optical devices, but I wanted something small and lignt and powerful.  I think this monocular was the good choice.

What I like about it:
1. Bright optics, so you can see in low light. Comparing to my old 8x monocular, the field is much brighter and colors are natural.
2. It is easy to focus and picture  is really sharp
3. Good resolution not only in the center of the field, but also closer to edges.
4. Weight - it is really light
5. I wear glasses, but this monocular allows me to wear my glasses and see almost all field
6. This monocular can focus much closer than my other monocular.

What I do not like about it:
1. Just one little thing: it is easy to loose rear lens cap because it is not attached to the monocular  the same way as  the front lens cap.

In conclusion, I would recommed this monocular to a friend.

[4.2 mm] The ED glass makes a huge difference in image quality. The
resolution beats out non-ED 12X and 15X scopes; 10X, in my opinion, for the most part is optimal for good efficiency, time-saving practicality, and is even the most bang for the optical buck over greater magnifications with monoculars.

I use it for bird watching, visits to the zoo, sporting events,
concerts, even field reconnaissance for surveying purposes. I find that the tripod attachment thread is a great feature for image stability, and in fact a monopod is all I need to achieve fast setup and object finding. The image in that case is not perfectly still, of course, but even the single foot of the monopod placed on the ground reduces shakiness by an enormous amount.

For an even faster setup and finding, I simply raise the entire
monopod off the ground and rotate it by 0-90 degrees, whatever's convenient, to achieve a counterweight balance to my own weight (be careful around bystanders when swinging the pole!) This definitely still helps to stabilize the objective of the monocular, even though the monopod is not planted on the ground. The scope is of course rotated as you look through it, but the rotation makes no difference! It is not possible to use binoculars in this way--giving the giving the monopod-monocular combination a definite kind of advantage for certain kinds of spotting. Not to mention you can simply leave the scope on the monopod and now you have a convenient walking stick.

[42 mm] Why did I wait so long to purchase these?
What a difference from an old pair of tasco compact binoculars! These are fantastic! Absolutely christal clear! Focus knob is smooth and accurate. Can’t think of any negatives at all. Price was great!

[7.3 x 4.4 x 3"] This monocular is outstanding. The sharpness and clarity during the day and dusk is superior.
I am very surprised how well it is made and want a decent price it was acquired for. It comes from the UNited Kingdom in design and probably made in communist China.

[1/4"-20 Female] I purchased this for my wife so she could use it to watch birds and nature. She loves it!
Easy to use with one hand, clear viewing. The water proof feature will prove to be the right way to go since she and I are outside quite a bit.

[1/4"-20 Female] As a biologist I have gone through many optics and have several pairs of binos but wanted to give a monocular a shot as it is more compact and provides just as good a viewing capability. I was not disappointed with the Hawke 10x42, clear sight picture, easy to adjust, compact and armored - plus you get a free chest harness as part of the purchase, you cant beat that!!
