Lightweight and compact with a moderate magnification to ensure a spacious field of view, the green Hawke Optics 8x25 Endurance ED Compact Binoculars are an  bideal companion for your daily glassing needs that will easily fit in a day bag, hiking pack, camping kit, or glove box.

Engineered for performance, the Endurance binoculars are made with extra-low-dispersion glass, phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms, and fully multi-coated optics to produce color-accurate high-contrast views without distortion or color fringing—so your distant subjects look crisp and clear with excellent resolution. Complementing this optical performance is a fast-focusing wheel that runs through the full focus range in just 3.2 turns, so finding and tracking subjects is fast and easy.

Designed for daily outdoor use in all weather and to make it easy to hold, the Endurance features a lightweight and strong magnesium chassis with dual-hinge bridge. The bridge allows the optical tubes to fold and tuck under the binoculars to present an extremely compact profile for easier packing and carrying. An ergonomic and slip-resistant armoring with raised ridges provides a sure and positive grip. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather turns or the binoculars take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle.

[8x] Sturdy, compact, light weight. Has rubber lens covers for the ocular and objective lenses, and comes with a fabric case, cleaning cloth and very nice padded neck strap. The strap could easily handle a much heavier binoc and is consequently too bulky to fit in the case. I replaced the strap with a neck cord which works fine on such a light weight binocular and fits in the case. Clarity is very good, but with my glasses 13mm eye relief is inadequate, and I doubt 15mm would be much better. I see the full field of view without glasses, so will be using without. I have a large head and the inter-pupillary distance when the tubes are close to full separation is ok. The focus wheel works well. Overall, seems a quality unit.

[Center] I spent a lot of time looking at 8x25 binoculars and decided to spend a little more money to get these with phase-corrected prisms plus ED glass. I had to return a pair of cheaper ones I bought through amazon which had the same specs but were foggy around the edges (poor quality control).
These Hawkes seem to be well-made and produce a nice crisp image. I haven't done a rigorous analysis yet.
These have everything I was looking for:
1. Quality optics from a reputable company.
2. Objective lens covers that stay attached along with ocular covers.
3. A nice pouch with belt loops.
Super fast shipping from B&H! Better than Amazon. I will always order from B&H over Amazon if I can.
If these binoculars fail to pass the test of time I will write another review (they also have a lifetime warranty).
I plan to use them while hiking and going on motorcycle trips.

[13 mm] All you need to do is adjust the eyepiece diopter ring to your eyesight while looking at a distant object, then the instrument is in focus forever at all other distances within its range. The focus is sharp from edge to edge and the exit pupil is reasonable for early dusk viewing ... exit pupil is 25/8 = 3.125 mm. It is light and compact which means you can put it in your pocket all day and hardly notice that it is there. This means that you will use this monocular far more often than that expensive and heavy birding glass.

[8x] I am very pleased by the sharp, bright optics combined with the relatively small size and weight; I hardly notice it in my pocket. Focusing is smooth and precise.

I own a variety of binoculars and monoculars and was pleasantly surprised by the Hawke’s optical quality. I own a Vortex 8x25 non-ed monocular which is very good but which is not quite as optically sharp as this one, plus it is larger and heavier. However the Vortex has significantly better eye relief which is helpful for me as I wear eyeglasses, resulting in a wider field of view. The Hawke monocular cuts off perhaps 35% of my view with eyeglasses, which I feel is a tradeoff for size and weight reduction. But it is still very enjoyable to use as the field of view is still reasonable, plus there is the enhanced optical quality which I find surprisingly good.

My primary application is wildlife viewing and identification while walking or hiking, and the Hawke will be my go to for that.. It is an excellent value.

[25 mm] I bought this to help me view possible routes while hiking up and down slopes (scrambling), and for general use in viewing far-away objects, as my eyesight is not what it used to be. I had to purchase this based only on reading specs and reviews on the Internet of various similar monoculars, having no way to check them out physically. It is also the first tool of this kind that I have ever purchased.

I am giving this five stars because, in spite of a couple of flaws, this tool meets my needs of good optics and compactness. It stays in its case in my back pack while hiking, but once I need it, it goes into my pants pocket in a plastic bag for immediate use, and doesn't bother me a bit. I can see well through the eyecup with and without my glasses, no problem of a restriction in field of view, eye relief is very good. Views are sharp and there are no aberrations.

Two things that could be better, but do not detract from the quality of the instrument :
1) the focus wheel/ring is flush with the rest of the body - so while it is grooved, it is still not that intuitive to feel the wheel, especially as it is also quite narrow. Five or six small knobs on the wheel would have made for a better design imo : this would make the wheel easier to feel, and also aid in turning the wheel, as it is indeed a bit stiff (which I think is a good thing).
2) there is a protective rubber cup on either end of the monocular, to protect the lenses, but only one is tethered. I can't see the logic in not implementing a similar tethering for the eyecup.

I have steady hands, but I prefer to use this with two hands.

An added benefit of this monocular is that I can discern various faint night sky objects, like the smudges of the Andromeda galaxy and the Orion Nebula - both objects that in good conditions can be seen with the naked eye, but with my failing eyesight I haven't seen in quite a while.
