Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can I connect the Audio-Technica Pro 70 to my Macbook Pro?

A: The Audio-Technica Pro 70 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone can be adapted for connection to a Macbook with an audio interface that offers an XLR input connection. A simple option such as the Polsen XLR-USB-48 XLR to USB Audio Interface (BH #POXLRUSB48) could satisfy this criteria. A more popular option could be found in the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (BH #FOSCARSOLO3G).

Q: 2. Can this be connected directly to an xlr cable without a base? I bought a similar mic before but it won't work unless it is connected to its base.

A: Yes- it can connect directly. However, you wouldn't be able to stand it up as you can guess.

Q: 3. Where can I get a wind cover for this microphone?

A: Auray - Fuzzy Windbuster for Lavalier Microphones (Black) B&H# AUWLW

Q: 4. How is the level of self-noise or noise floor on this microphone?

A: Thank you for your question. At this time, the manufacturer has not made that specification available.

Q: 5. Do I need a power module or can I just plug this into a mini-XLR to XLR adapter and power it with phantom?

A: This version of it has an unterminated cable. This one (AUAT831B) comes with the power module and then you can take an xlr cable out of the module.

Q: 6. Will this work with the ANMEGA2-U2 Anchor Audio Portable PA system?

A: The HBM-LINK Cardioid Headset Mic can be used with Anchor Audio's WB-LINK Wireless Beltpack Transmitter (B&H # ANWBLINK). The transmitter and mic can be used for wireless audio connection with the MEGA2-U2 Portable PA System. So the WB-LINK transmitter is required in order to use the HBM-LINK microphone and wireless mic system included with the MEGA2-U2 PA.

Q: 7. Is the end of the cable an XLR connector? I have phantom power on my field recorder and don't want to add any power modules.

A: The Audio-Technica AT831B terminates in a TA3 (miniXLR) connector, but the included power module has a regular XLR output.

Q: 8. I have a Tascam DR-701R that provide phantom power, so still I need piut the Battery in the AT831B?

A: It is battery or phantom. So you can run it with the phantom power on your DR-701, or if you would like to save some battery power on your DR-701, you can run the AT831B on battery power.

Q: 9. what applications are best for this mic?

A: The ATM450 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone from Audio-Technica is designed with a side-address capsule, allowing for easy placement and flexible positioning on percussion, guitar cabinets, piano, and similar applications.

Q: 10. Can I connect the AT 831B ( with the power supply module ) in an acoustic guitar amp with a XLR input and already providing a phantom power of 16 V?

A: The AT831B can operate on phantom power ranging from 9-52 volts and also using battery. There would be no issue connecting to a device that provides 16V phantom via XLR.

[1/8" / 3.5 mm] I set these up as a stereo pair on a baby grand piano, panned appropriately, and was absolutely floored by how good these sounded. Great small diaphragm condenser microphone for an extremely great price.
