The Tiffen 4x5.65" Black Pro-Mist Filter 1/2helps to reduce the value of the highlights while slightly lowering the overall contrast. This filter is especially useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 1/2 density provides a small amount of contrast and highlight reduction and allows for a soft, pastel-like quality of light.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5mm.

A: No, The Tiffen Multi Rota Tray Variable Neutral Density Kit comes with one rotating Circular Polarizer Tray. When combined with one of the included 4x5.65" Circular Polarizer it becomes a Variable ND solution. However, the 4x5.65" Circular Polarizer would take up another space/slot in your Matte Box. A second 4x5.65" Circular Polarizer is included as a backup.

A: Tiffen has upgraded their glass to water white as well as making sure the ND material is a true grey and not green/brown. I have personally seen them and I am impressed. Therefore it is my opinion that not only would these filters would work well on the RED cameras in question but on any camera.

[0.445 lb] I use this softening filter in certain landscape situations, not necessarily for portraiture. And guess what, that can be lots of fun! I use it with my 105 Nikor micro lens occasionally and can get the most dreamy look, just gorgeous. No kidding. I also have the 77mm size, pro mist 3 for the 70-200 zoom. Really can't tell much difference between the #2 and #3 strength. Get the black version if you don't want some halos around the highlights. I like the halos personally. The more backlighting or highlights with light areas, the more halos 5
