This provides 6-stops of exposure reduction, while the PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter (B&H # POCP82Q) just provides polarization with 1.3 stops of exposure reduction. The ND and Circular Polarizer filter may makes sense for those that need an all-in-one solution. There are some that will only require a polarizer filter if they're working with a matte box or built-in ND filters.

A: It is not as easy as when you have the ND and polarizer filters separate, but the best option is to increase the ISO a lot to focus and also to set the polarization and then turn the ISO down to take the picture.

A: Screw-on filters like the Polar Pro ND64 QuartzLine do not traditionally specify filter thickness. We measured ours at the store and without the filter threads, the filter measures 6.21mm thick.

Q: 10. I have a Tamron 100-400 f4.5-6.3. Is an ND64 filter too high of stops for it? What should I take into consideration when looking for ND/Polarizer filters?

A: It's hard to say how many stops is too much because the contextual information (i.e. the kind of exposure/photograph you are trying to create) has significant influence on how many stops you might need. Technically you can use any amount of stops you want and likely achieve a similar result, but you will need to adjust your ISO, aperture, and/or shutter speed/bulb exposure times to compensate for the light loss. The ND64 QuartzLine ND and CP combo is great because it allows you to the option of not stacking a simple ND and CPL, thereby shooting through two pieces of glass instead of three. This is better for image clarity and lowers the chance of reflection/refraction issues between filters and glare.
