Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I can't get adapter & lens apart after attaching. What is the procedure for disattaching lens from adapter?

A: The lens would need to removed from the adapter first by sliding the silver tab on the side of it. The adapter can then be removed from camera body using the lens release button.

Q: 2. Will this adapter work with the Olypmus OMD E-M5? I have heard of some issues with other G-4/3 adapters being obstructed by the prism on the camera and thus unusable. Are there any known issues with this?

A: Yes, the FotodioX Contax G Pro Lens Adapter for Micro Four Thirds Cameras is compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M5. There are no known issues regarding the adapter obstructing parts of the camera.

Q: 3. Doe this adapter interfere with the camera body contacts? My early no-name adapter works on my Oly E-PL1 but not my Oly OM-D EM5

A: The FotodioX Mount Adapter for C-Mount Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera will block the camera's contacts, preventing communication between the lens and the camera. However since most C-mount lenses do not support auto focus or have image stabilization the lack of camera to lens communication should not be a big issue.

Q: 4. Hey there, will I be able to change my F-stop number when using the BMPCC 4K?

A: This has no electronic communication, so unless you have a manual aperture ring on your lens, you will be unable to change the aperture via the camera's controls.

Q: 5. ¿What's the functional difference between the Standard and the Pro version of this adapter?

A: These products serve the same function. The standard model is constructed of Aluminum, while the Pro model is made of higher quality Brass and Metal.

Q: 6. What is the thread pitch?

A: The Fotodiox M42 to MFT adapter uses the M42 thread mount, which has a 42mm throat diameter with a 1mm thread pitch.

Q: 7. Does this adapter have any glass optics?

A: No.

Q: 8. If a Leica lens is mounted on a Panasonic m4/3 camera with an adapter like this, will focus peaking work to assist focusing?

A: Yes, focus peaking will work (at least it does on my G85).

Q: 9. what is the difference between B&H # FOPMFTANG43 $159.95 and Nikon G pro lens blue ring adapter less than $60 for Micro four third camera. will both can be deliver the same for gh4

A: The difference would be that the Excell+1 (more expensive adapter) has light focusing optics that adjust the crop factor by 0.72x, changing the original crop factor from 2x to only 1.4x. The optics also have the benefit of increasing the maximum aperture by 1 stop, taking an f/1.4 lens down to f/1.0 for example. Both would be compatible with the GH4.

Q: 10. shall I use it for c-mount camera to MFT Lens?

A: FotodioX Mount Adapter for C-Mount Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera won't work in that situations. This adapter is made for C mount lens to Micro Four Thirds camera.

[Metal, Brass] This is an inexpensive adapter that is suitable for manual lenses. Build quality appears to be quite good. I like it

[Metal, Brass] I think I’m getting infinity focus or slightly past it maybe, it focuses past the distant mountains, anyway the fear of not being able to hit infinity doesn’t seem to be an issue for me. Using Schneider Xenon 16mil lenses on bmpcc4k.

[Metal, Brass] The M-42 thread is not directly machined into the barrel. It is a seperate piece, so I was able to remove it, then remove the pin-depresser-ring, and then reinstall the M-42 piece (plus a shim).

This means I can deploy this item either with or without the pin depresser. (If this means nothing to you, then buy the cheaper version.)

[Metal, Brass] My daughter had a large selection of Nikon 35 mm lenses and there were a couple I thought I could make use of this. This inexpensive converter allows me to use her manual lenses without a lot of fuss.

[Metal, Brass] Plenty of reasons to like this adapter. The machining is clean, it is very simple, and seems to be accurate. Snaps right into my GH5 like it was made for it. I cannot say, however, how well it fits C-mount, as it is my first such adapter, and apparently the lens I bought it for is NOT C-Mount .. oh well .. I'll keep the adapter, and look for some C-mount lenses!

[Metal, Brass] I purchased this adapter to use my old 16mm C-Mount lenses on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The adapter itself is rather simple but that's all you need for C-Mount lenses. The construction is solid, the threading is smooth and the adapter fits tightly on my camera without any wiggle.

[Metal, Brass] I shoot video mostly 720p & 1080p and I have several older C Mount Lenses. This adapter is great for putting them on my Z Cam E1 with a Micro 4/3 mount. The majority of my C Mount Lenses only cover a 2/3" sensor so the results on Micro 4/3 video are a cropped circle, top and bottom are OK, but left and right do show the circle.

I'm able to fix that in post by zooming into the area of the circle, so this is no big deal, BUT consider that in most cases you'll need to fix this in camera with a digital zoom or in post. To avoid loss of sharpness, I shoot one step higher in resolution when I'm going to crop in post. A few of the C Mount Lenses do fill the frame and there's no need for cropping.
