If your M42-mount lens has no aperture pin, tabs, or levers; or if it has an aperture pin that does not fully depress (small tabs stick out), it is considered a type-1 lens and this V1 lens mount adapter is compatible with it.

However, if the aperture pin of your M42-mount lens depresses all the way down, your lens is considered type 2 and is compatible with V2 adapters (available separately).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this adapter LOCK on to the camera? I bought a cheaper one, and it does NOT lock!

A: Yes it does lock

Q: 2. Would this be the adapter to mount Polaroid lenses to a Canon 90d?

A: If the Polaroid lens has an M42 screw mount, then yes it will fit.

Q: 3. What does type 1 and type 2 mean in the other versions of this adapter? are there different mounts of M42?

A: The Type 1 adapts an M42-mount lens without an aperture pin, or with a non-fully depressible aperture pin and tabs along its screw-mount. The Type 2 adapts an M42-mount lens with a fully depressible aperture pin.

Q: 4. Will this adaptor work with a mamiya-sekor 55mm f1.4?

A: Yes. It will allow connection of the lens. Functionality will be limited to manual focusing and depending on the camera, manual or aperture priority exposure only with no information or meta data transfer.

Q: 5. I have the 90D and the 5D Mark iv, 2 different censors. Will it work the same for both? I'm assuming the 90D would include a crop?

A: That is correct.

Q: 6. Is this the Type 2 of the adapter?, for M42-mount lens with a fully depressible aperture pin? Because it doesn't say in the title or in the photos.

A: It is type 1. If you need type 2, they make this version: https://bhpho.to/352szF6

Q: 7. Will this work properly with infinity focus with the mirrorless Eos R?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. can my nikon d750 still give me focus confirmation with this adapter?

A: The short answer is no, the adapter will work optically, but there isn't any autofocus at all. On the auto focus lenses you use with your D750, you should notice electrical contacts that are absent on the lens you are trying to use with this adaptor. With no electrical connection to the lens auto-focus is not possible. That being said, the adaptor, along with the corrective lens in the adaptor will allow manual focus. I used this adaptor with a 50mm f/1.4 Takumar lens that came with my Asahi Spotmatic, and it's a terrific lens, so if your M42 mount lens is a good one, this adaptor will allow you to use it.

Q: 9. Does this get semi-permanently attached to the lense or can you easily switch between lenses?

A: easily switched.

Q: 10. Will this adapter work with Metabones ultra 0.71 speed booster EF to BMPCC 4k (BH #MESPEFM43BT8)?

A: This adapter would allow for the use of M42 screw mount lenses to fit on a Canon EOS camera with an EF mount. If you're looking to use the Canon EF lenses on a Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K with a Micro 4/3 mount, then the Metabones T Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x Adapter for Canon EF Lens to BMPCC 4K Camera, B&H # MESPEFM43BT8 would be used on its own with no other adapters.

[Metal, Brass] I've bought this adapter so I can use an old Russian lens on my Canon 5D MK3. It is very well made, attaches securely to the lens and the camera body, no light leaks or any other issues, and the price is great!

[3 x 3 x 0.65"] Works as advertised.

[Metal, Brass] This quite cheap adapter allows using old Soviet-made lenses (some of them aren't bad at all) on Canon bodies. You have to be familiar with manual focusing and manual exposure, however.

[Canon EF] The item works very well. I put it on the lens, then on the camera and I was shooting immediately. It's like the lens itself is a C-mount.
I chose this adaptor over a slightly cheaper on because it's made of brass and not aluminum. I figure with my heavy lens that the aluminum might some day start sagging and brass wouldn't. (Just a guess on my part.)

[Canon EF] This adapter fit my Pentax 42mm lens and Canon EOS DSLR perfectly. I was concerned it would not reach infinity since I plan to use the lens for widefield astrophotography it reached infinity perfectly.

[0.15 lb] reasonably priced. infinity focus! it has a flange that engages the diaphragm pin for stop down metering. works great on all those old takumars. GET ONE!

[0.15 lb] I see a lot of products that show photos of some shiny metallic object that fits all of the criteria anyone would ever need. This one is totally like that. The difference between this one and most others is that the actual product you receive could be anything 0.o I was happy to see that this was just a simple piece of metal. A bracket that did what it said it would. Integrity. What a concept!

[3 x 3 x 0.65"] I own 4 of these and also the Nikon lens to EF mount, as well as a couple other brands. These adaptors are solid, heavy-duty, accurately machined, and never a worry. For my work I find that computer chips on adapters are basically useless at best and might lock-up your camera body at worst. I have removed the chips from some adapters to improve them. If you are using some cool vintage lenses, you probably know how to add focal length to the EXIF data anyway, right?

[Metal, Brass] There are a lot of m42 to Canon EF adapters in the market and this one works great. Works with the auto lens also which is a huge plus. Will likely buy another if I decide to expand on more m42 lenses in the future.
