A: The Atomos USB Type-C to Serial LANC Calibration Cable (13") (B&H# ATATOMCAB018) can indeed require several attempts in order to get it to work. There are only two common scenarios we know whereby the process does consistently fail. First, it will fail if an incompatible colorimeter is used such as the X-Rite i1 Display or Plus (non Pro) or the Calibrite ColorChecker Display or Plus (non Pro). That's because the Pro version of those must be used. Second, while this cable is used with many different monitors, on many of then you must go to the input settings on the recorder then make sure the Remote is set to Calibration/LANC before use.

[1x DB/DE-9 Male] Bought this way back in 2013 for use with my college computer program which involved a lot of network device configuration (primarily with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls). Never had an issue with this adapter functioning as intended. It worked reliably and it's really durable considering I've had it knotted in a ball, and stored in a tight coil but it still works. It's almost 4 years later and I have no concerns about this thing lasting me a decade or above. Never did use the parallel portion. If there's any complaint I have, it's that it feels a little cheap since it's just plastic, and it looks very plain with just the grey. Making it like a black matte plastic like the many video adapters, and adding the company logo would be a nice change. 5

[1x DB/DE-9 Male] I tried other adapters from the local box stores but had issues with connectivity and info transfer. Used the ATEN adapter and all issues were gone. B & H supplied us with the best adapter at a very good price. 5
