This sucker gets really bright, which can feel harsh , but that doesn't have anything to do with it's softness. Long story short, I use this primarily as an eye-light, as the name suggests, not as a key light. So I rarely dim it above like 25% brightness. All I'm looking for is a little ping in the eye, so I don't want it playing on the subject's face at all. If you want a soft on-camera light, the bigger in size you can get the better. This probably isn't the light you're looking for.
