The 67mm UV/IR Cut Filter for Ice Photographyis an ultraviolet and infrared control filter that is useful for digital cinematography and still photography. While recording video with a CCD or CMOS camera, multi-stop neutral density filters are used to maintain proper exposure by compensating for increased light levels when widening the camera lens' iris to obtain a narrower depth of field. As the increased amount of light passes through multi-stop neutral density filtration, visible light is progressively blocked, while infrared light is allowed to pass through. As the proportion of infrared light that reaches the camera sensor becomes greater, the results can show unwanted color shifts, particularly in dark areas of the frame, such as shadows where the appearance of black is dominant.

When the Ice 67mm UV/IR Cut Filter is applied, ultraviolet light waves and infrared light waves are suppressed, helping to ensure that light falling on a camera sensor is limited to the visible spectrum. When used along with multi-stop neutral density filters, potential infrared color shifts are prevented or minimized, preserving color accuracy throughout the frame. This filter may also be used to help ensure that the appearance of unwanted blue casts is reduced while recording video or still photos under daylight that also features intense ultraviolet light.

This filter cuts UV rays below 390nm and above 750nm, providing 99.4% light transmission between 400-700nm. The front surfaces of the filter include seventy layers of interference coatings, which limit the light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum. This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. It features a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy filter ring with front threads for adding additional filters or accessories.

Filters out UV rays below 390nm and above 750nm

Provides 99.4% light transmission between 400-700nm

Suppresses ultraviolet light waves, reducing the bluish cast of daylight when recording video or still photos.

Useful with CCD or CMOS sensors to filter out infrared light pollution that causes color shifts frequently associated with high-definition recording with multi-stop neutral density filters.

Does not require exposure adjustment while in use.

Seventy layers of interference coatings on the front surface limit light that falls on a digital camera sensor to the visible spectrum.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity.

Plastic case included for storage and transport.

The 67mm front filter threads allow use with other filters to protect the front surface or combine with other effects.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is the 'protection' capability of this lens, if I'm looking to replace my protection/UV filters with this one? And does it have 8 coatings, or one on each side? I've heard conflicting descriptions.

A: The filter has one coating per side to help with reflections and protection of the glass.

Q: 2. Has anyone combined a Hoya 77mm uv and ir cut filter with a circular polarizer on a 24-105 canon l series is lens using a 5D Mark III, if you have what were the results? Thank you very much before I buy the pair of filters.

A: We are not aware of any issues that combo would create.

Q: 3. Is this the filter to use for Leica M8 to not get purple blacks? In other words the same as what Leica supplied for M8 buyers?

A: The B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter (49mm) blocks 88% of ultraviolet light waves and 95% of infrared light waves.

Q: 4. Can it be used on NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens ?

A: Yes the B+W UV-IR Cut #486 MRC Basic Filter (46mm) is compatible with the Nikon 800mm f6.3 Z lens.

Q: 5. Can this filter be used with a VND filter to cut the IR ? Would you put this filter first on your lens or on top of all others?

A: Yes, filters are stackable on the Ice 82mm UV/IR Cut Filter as long as they are 82mm in diameter.

Q: 6. Does the filter have a thread on both ends? One end male, the other end female?I need to attach the filter to the lens, then screw an ND filter in front of it. Can that be done?

A: Yes, this filter has threading on the front and back so it can be stacked with other filters and allow for lens caps to properly connect with it.

Q: 7. Hello. Does this filter have the same difficulty with wide-angle lenses that most multi-coated cut filters have? I.e., inconsistent, off-axis effectiveness/banding beyond ~ 60 degree FOV. Thanks in advance!

A: Yes, this Ice 77mm UV/IR Cut Filter has the same wide angle issues many filters have. The IR filtration makes no difference, as far as the wide angle effectiveness goes.

Q: 8. What is the thickness of the ICE-CUT100 (ICE 100mm UV/IR Cut) filter?

A: The filter is 2mm thick.

Q: 9. Does this filter safely block potentially harmful light for direct solar photography? In other words, does this UV and IR cut filter serve the same purpose as a solar filter (other than darkening the image) for taking photos of the sun?

A: No, this filter is NOT safe to use for Solar photography.

Q: 10. Hi, does this filter have threads in both sides to allow stacking another filter (or cap) over it? Thanks!

A: Yes, It's 77mm on both sides allowing for additional filters or a 77mm lens cap to be placed on top.

[0.105 lb] Less expensive then Hoya, but do the same job. Blackmagic Pocket 6k mostly suffers ir pollution. Ice ir cut eliminate it. On hard ND stops gives little green tint, that can be changed in postproduction.

[Aluminum] I purchased this filter to photograph the 2024 eclipse. It seemed to work well in combination with a solar filter. I will definitely use this filter to photograph some sunsets.

[67 mm] When used for astro photography, there is little lens distortion at the edge of field on an 90mm dia F4 scope / lens. Star roundness is more difficult to achieve as compared to regular day time photography. This lens is very usable and appears to be relatively uniform across the entire field of view at F4

[67 mm] All of my lenses are considered pro. Until I discovered these filters I just wanted a filter to protect my expensive lenses and do no harm to IQ. I ordered one to compare with my other filters. When it arrived I was very impressed with the quality of the glass and the construction of filter (solid). To test the filter I set up my tripod using three different lenses. Compose a shot using old filter and quickly replace with Heliopan digital glass filter and take the same shot. Could not see any difference on LCD monitor. Downloaded pics to photoshop and there was a slight increase in sharpness and color. Eliminates haze in my pics. These filters are on all my lenses. This 67mm is on my nikon 35mm f/1.4. Worth the expense.
