The paper has the look and feel of handmade paper and is produced using a specialized Japanese paper-making machine called a Tanmo machine. It has a unique inkjet coating with a wide color gamut and excellent color consistency, and the paper is acid free with no optical brighteners.

Q: 5. Is this new paper the replacement of the now discontinued smooth super high gloss ? Does it have same characteristics or is it entirely new ?

A: Glossy inkjet is a type of paper that shines by nature. When light falls on such paper it is either reflected parallelly or at an angle. With metallic paper a sheet of mylar is kept between the printing paper and the emulsion. So there's no real comparison. Metallic is far superior for a 3D look. That being said Gloss doesn't change the image effect as does metallic and the colors can be a bit more accurate.

Q: 6. Will the Canon G7020 be able to handle this papers thickness of 13mils?

A: No, the Canon PIXMA G7020 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One Printer is only rated up to 200 gsm, and the Ilford GALERIE Heavyweight Duo Matt Paper (8.5 x 11", 50 Sheets) is 310 gsm. So regardless of thickness, the weight itself won't work.

Q: 7. Is the paper acid fast paper?

A: Ilford Galerie Prestige Smooth Gloss Paper is not a "fine art" paper so it is not acid free.

Q: 8. How does this paper compare to silver gelatin B&W paper or color RA-4 paper ? I wanted to print my film negatives at home, but I don't have the skills, neither space to have a darkroom (color printing would be almost impossible for me),so is this paper good for making inkjet prints from negatives ?

A: It would be close match to silver gelatin B&W paper.

Q: 9. How many pounds is this paper? Do you think it will go through the Canon Pixma Pro9000 mark ii?

A: This paper is 13mil or 310 gsm. It is within the thickness tolerance for the p9000 II.

Q: 10. Is Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl close to a matte finish?

A: No the Smooth Pearl is not close to a matte finish. It is closer to an off white Luster finish with a very dull shine.

[90%] I wanted to try printing textured paper and decided to pick up some small sheets of this Washi Torinoka paper to experiment with. Am totally satisfied with the look and feel of this paper. The paper has a beautiful subtle texture that adds depth to whatever is printed on it. Though the paper feels thinner than typical photo paper, it has strength and feeds beautifully in my Canon Pro 1000 printer. It is lovely for toned B&W prints with a soft textured look. I tried printing a color image on this paper and while it worked, the color looks dull and washed out. Since I only wanted the paper for toned B&W prints, it's exactly what I was looking for. 5

[50x Sheet Paper] Very nice smooth gloss that works great for much of my nature photography. I wanted a heavy gloss paper that comes close to Fuji crystal archive. This paper fits that need well. Note: after printing with my Epson 3880, I run the print through my other printer using a gloss over from inkjet mall. That really makes the paper sing. 5

[0.5 lb] I’m very happy with the quality of the prints using this paper and it is a great weight for Christmas cards, save the dates, and more. It is a little difficult to use my guillotine paper cutter due to the slight toothiness of the paper. 5
