Purchased this for my Sigma 18-35 for lens matte box and it worked out extremely well. You can also place a 4x4 ND filter in the the tray as well. I didn't get the French as i should have, but I'll be placing the order for that next as well. Helps to have the flag to block out any unwanted sun flares on a bright day. Excellent buy!

If you need a good box but you don't have the Redrock Micro kind of budget, this is your box. It hold two filters, and one of the trays rotates. It will mount to just about any of the standard lenses with the right adapter ring. If your shooting with a DSLR, you can use this box without rails. It's fairly durable, and seems to be a good design. I do a lot of shoulder work and this box does not weigh very much, it's also easy to install or take off. All in all I'm pleased with it and I would recomend it!

I was a bit scared after reading some of the reviews, but when unboxing I was seriously impressed with the build quality of this matte box! Its really well made and sturdy, I really dont regret buying it!
Also the kit is seriously great and complete, cant imagine needing any other item or accessory for it.

It's super light, so most of the time I just screw it on, and leave it all day. I use 4x4 glass filters, and just take out the polarizer when I move inside. You can use flags on it as well, and stay pretty light if need be. All in all for my needs of wanting to simply shoot outside with a couple of nice glass filters, this works perfectly, is light, and really sturdy. I've used really expensive boxes, so I can tell when one is cheap. This hits the perfect niche for run and gun cinema/corporate.

this particular one is beyond great. Great to have something that doesn't require rails all the time. Kinda wish they had an option for brass adapter/step-up rings because I think the aluminum ones will wear out with a lot of use. That said, I have zero complaints. Great build quality. Filter stages are fantastic. Does what it's supposed and couldn't be happier with the purchase.

I purchased the GML Kit about a month ago, after keeping my eye on it for awhile then suddenly having an opportunity to order it for a shoot. I ordered One Day shipping, to get it in time, and the Genustech team was excellent to work with to make that happen, and has continued to be with any questions I've had since.

Since then, the matte box has worked great for my needs as a primarily mobile and handheld camera op. It is lightweight and compact, in addition to being quick to mount/unmount. A perk of this matte box compared to rail mounting matte boxes is that since I primarily use zoom lenses, the matte box remains at the front of my lens even as the zoom increases.

One thing to be aware of is that since the matte box solely tightens down around the step up ring, it can be nudged and canted to a slight angle. Unless its nudged a lot to an extreme angle it won't cut into your frame any though, except perhaps on a super wide angle lens.

For anyone who wants a lightweight matte box for a compact rig, I'd definitely recommend the GML Kit.

Holds on to the lens way better than Wood Camera's version of a lite matte box. Just put it through a grueling week of run and gun shooting. Held up well. Looks professional, well made. Yes I would recommend!
