The Prism Sound ADA-8XR Audio Interface for Pro Tools HDXis a rack-mountable 2 RU audio interface chassis designed to deliver versatile clocking and configurability for producers, musicians, and audio engineers in home, project, and commercial studios. Its modular design yields flexible I/O arrangements thanks to four I/O module slots—two analog and two digital. A variety of modules (available separately) can be installed for access to multichannel analog/digital inputs and outputs as well as Pro Tools or FireWire workstation connectivity.

The ADA-8XR Frame supports resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz, and can clock internally or to external AES3, AES11, word clock, or Pro Tools Loop Sync. The built-in Utility Module provides stereo analog RCA and digital BNC audio outputs, BNC word clock and XLR AES11 sync I/O, and a DB9 serial communications port. Additionally, the front panel has a 1/4" stereo headphone output along with assignable 8-channel bargraph meters. An onboard display and comprehensive controls enable efficient adjustment of parameters, which can be quickly stored and recalled via factory and user presets. The ADA-8XR Frame comes with no I/O modules, ready for custom configurations.

Q: 8. Does the USB interface have any sort of latency for input/output?

A: There are a lot of variables to consider when measuring overall latency in a DAW setup. All USB interfaces contribute to this latency as well. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list a specification to know exactly how much. The processing power of computer is a big determining factor, along with the software being used to record as well. Depending on the software, users may adjust the buffer settings to help with the latency. You may expect around 10-20ms overall latency before making any adjustments to the buffer.

A: i am not certain if Pro Tools will release a WIndows -based version of this audio interface. because Carbon uses AVB for connection via ethernet, which is built into a macOS.

A: There is no microphone included, but there is a small microphone jack in the rear of the unit which I have not had the need to use. There is a cable that I run from the ADA to my mixer, and my microphone is plugged into the mixer.

[60 W] I use it as a mobile DJ to resolve connecting last minute DVD's Projectors and IPOD devices to my MIXER it resolves all the level mismatches between getting sound from these devices to my audience. Well built and does not need added power to use it and has a ground lift option to cure noise & Hum. This will be a mainstay in my tool kit to solve audio connections. Allen 5

[2 RU] I wrote a review earlier for this product, that it worked very well in removing noise from a setup plugging a mixer into a noisy church building system. I recently found another, unexpected use for this item. I also play guitar in a band. Those out there who may play an electric guitar with single coil pickups know that these instruments are subject to noise. My practice space has got some pretty noisy electrical wiring (mainly from multiple light dimmers), and I have always had problems with noise when playing my single-coil-equiped Stratocaster. I have done several things to reduce the noise, with variable amounts of success. The other day while playing, and experiencing a noisy condition, I had the idea of using this interface between the guitar and amp. Bingo! Quiet! Hard to believe, and it doesn't color the tone, either (not that I could notice, anyway). If guitar players get wind of this, sales of this product should skyrocket! (funny they don't advertise this -- Pro-Co makes guitar effects, notably the Rat overdrive pedal) At any rate, I will be including this from now on as part of my regular guitar setup. 5

[Up to 192 kHz ] I needed to connect a sub-mixer into the house system at a church for a special program. When I plugged the mixer into the sytem I got a huge amount of static and HF noise. When I turned on the mixer I got a local radio station broadcasting a basketball game! I inserted the AV1 and everything went away but some 60 cycle hum. Flipped the handy ground lift switch and silence. Zero noise! The difference was amazing, beyond my expectations. I highly recommend this product! 5

[Up to 24-Bit] Works perfectly for patching an i-pod and/or laptop into pro sound systems in theaters with great results. Plus the added bonus of stereo output! Must have for any sound F/X playback or music streaming in theater settings. Build is tough and durable... absolutely no 'chince'-factor! 5

[Up to 24-Bit] I've had my Lyra 2 for almost 3 years. No issues with the sound quality at all. It's a great and truly professional sounding piece of kit..hence the 5 star rating. Im only writing this review to let potential buyers know that from Prism's own lips, they have zero intention of developing the RJ45/AVB capability that this box has (thus the specifications as listed are a bit misleading). That was kind of disappointing news to find out, as this is a very pricey USB 2.0 box. Would've been nice if they tried to future-proof it a little for us. 5

[60 W] The AV 1 Audio/Video High to Low Impedance interface by Pro-Co Sound is an invaluable tool for an facility that uses computer projectors and live sound. We have three in-house PA systems where various groups meet. Typically, images are projected from a laptop to a large screen. The AV 1 provides a quick, quiet connection between the computer or projector and allows us to pump the sound directly through the house system. Due to the multiple sets of inputs, it can be connected to a variety of sources without special adapters. The AV-1 also doubles as a direct boxes for plug-acoustic instruments. I recommend it highly. 5

[Up to 192 kHz ] I purchased this nifty piece of audio equipment after I saw it used by AV pros. I do a lot of Powerpoint presentations that include video clips. Sometimes the audio in the clips is too low to hear, which makes them worthless. This unit boosts the sound level up to normal levels, saving the day. What a wonderful life saver. Worth every penny. 5
