The black Yamaha DZR15 is a 2-way powered loudspeaker designed for main/FOH and floor monitor applications. The 2000W Class-D bi-amp powers the 15" woofer and 2" compression driver, which combine to provide a frequency range of 34 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB) with a maximum SPL of 139 dB. The rotatable horn allows for vertical or horizontal mounting to further adapt it to the acoustic dimensions of a venue. The constant directivity horn was designed with the goal of providing smooth, level coverage across the intended coverage area, minimizing roll-off that is common in conventional horn designs.

The on-board 96 kHz DSP processor utilizes Advanced FIR filters for the crossover network and corrective EQ. With the FIR filters, the DZR15 is able to produce a smooth frequency response for remarkable clarity and sound imaging without phase distortion. The onboard LCD screen allows users to easily navigate the variety of DSP functions, load presets, and adjust PEQ, delay, and routing. The D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures the DZR15's sound stays consistent and clear no matter how hard you drive them. The FOH/Main mode boosts the lower frequencies to compensate for low end that is typically lost when flying speakers, while the Monitor mode is optimized for floor monitoring application by taming problematic low frequencies that can be enhanced by floor reflection, and smoothing a wide range of frequencies to deliver the clarity professionals demand from their stage monitors.

The rear panel offers two combo XLR-1/4" inputs with XLR thru/outputs and dedicated level controls. A USB port allows for system upgrades and preset configuration and backups. The Yamaha DZR15 ships with a standard IEC power cord.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the rms

A: The Yamaha DZR15 2000W 2-Way 15" Powered Loudspeaker is 950 W RMS.

Q: 2. Can SOUND delay (milliseconds) be adjusted on the speaker or via the app?

A: The Alto Professional TS410 2000W 10" 2-Way Active Loudspeaker with Bluetooth (BH # ALTS410XUS) features the Alto Mobile App which gives hands-on remote control over Bluetooth levels, speaker use modes, custom EQ and sub size selection. Further, true wireless stereo linking can be configured remotely via the app to save time during setup. Delay is not adjustable.

Q: 3. Can this be used with HS80M monitors? I've noticed that this subwoofer has a very different frequency response curve to the now discontinued HS10W subwoofer that was designed for the HS80M monitors.

A: Contacted Yamaha and they assure me that it can be used with HS80M monitors. Frequency response is different as the HS8S can go as low as 22hz (HS10W was 30hz). You just need to adjust the cross over frequency until it best complements the HS80M monitors.

Q: 4. What is the difference between HS8I and HS8?

A: The HSI model has added mounting points to the original HS monitor, and is now compatible with three optional bracket types—wall, ceiling, and baton—adding the flexibility to accommodate a broad range of sonic environments.

Q: 5. Can I use this mixer with my portable Yamaha PAS 500?

A: The following brackets are mane by Yamaha for this monitor• Baton bracket BBS251,• Ceiling bracket BCS251, • Wall bracket BWS251,• Wall bracket / ceiling bracket BWS50.See page 11,12 for instructions on mounting (https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/4/793644/hs8i_en_om_c0.pdf)

Q: 8. These are 199$ each.... is your price for ONE speaker or a PAIR? Thanks! Gordy

A: The Yamaha HS5I are sold per unit and are not paired.

Q: 9. Does the high cut knob act as a crossover? Will the frequencies above the set high cut pass through the HS8S's outputs to go to studio monitors?

A: On the HS8 subwoofer, the high cut control sets the highest frequency output from the sub. The Low Cut control will act as the crossover to the monitor speakers and attenuate the low frequencies before outputting to the connected monitors. This can be bypassed or engaged with the on off switch.

Q: 10. With the SPX effects, can you assign one effect to one channel and another effect to another channel, and so on?

A: No unfortunately you can not, one effect will play on all channels , the only way to have different effects on each channels is to buy a digital mixing console.

[Active 2-Way] I bought a pair of the 10" speakers to provide sound in my basement for DJ practice mixes and to make my Peloton bike experience rock. It does that very well using only a fraction of its full power. I connected everything through a Yamaha MG10xu mixer.

I have not taken the speakers outside yet, but they should power a backyard party and make the neighbors stand up and notice.

The speakers are rugged, lightweight for the sound they produce, and priced well. You can certainly get better and louder sound, but you will pay at least double.

[69 lb] I have only used these speakers once but suffice it to say I am very impressed with sound level and quality of sound!!

I play in a three piece wedding band, drums, bass and guitar.

I had a gig at an outside venue and decided to test these speakers out there.  I had been led to believe the venue was smaller and guests would number about 150.  When I got there the place was bigger than I expected and there were a bit more than 200 guests. To top it off, the dance floor was located a ways from the band.

When I fired them up and did the sound check I knew that the speakers were going to handle the event just fine.

I used a bass drum mic and an overhead for the drums.  I also put the guitar and  and a little bass guitar through the speakers.  These speakers put out some surprising  volume and quality sound. The vocals sounded very nice and clear.

Granted, these speakers are and upgrade from the $800 to $900 per speaker I was using, but nevertheless these Yamaha bring the volume and quality of sound that IS the next level. I can only Imagine how they sound with the Yamaha subs which I plan on getting soon.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. And bottom line, these speakers make my band sound better, and that is good for business.

[69 lb] Bought this to compliment my Yamaha DGX-650 keyboard, and it works exactly as designed. Plugged it in to my keyboard headphone jack and adjusted the volume - viola ! I will someday upgrade to a larger unit when performing, but for now this meets my needs perfectly for practice - not too large, not too small, just enough power to fill a large room with legendary Yamaha sound. I may even add another one just because.... A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. This unit rocks !

[1.7 kHz] I had experience with using the 12 and 15 inch version of these speakers earlier this year with a band I was playing in, and when the need arose for my jazz duo to play an outdoor concert, I got a pair of these. I auditioned them at home for a week, and found the sound to be expansive, clear, and full-range. I used them for the first time this past weekend at an outdoor fund-raiser concert, and they performed magnificently. For once, vocals and my partner's trumpet were clear and cut through the mix. I ported my piano and my backing tracks thru it as well, and everything sounded balanced and clean. This allowed us to use my amp/powered speaker as a monitor, so we had the best of both worlds here. I cannot recommend these speakers enough. They are extremely lightweight given their quality, which is a must for me, and while they were not cheap, they are a great value, costing less than comparable speakers of other, famous brands. The other speakers I considered were heavier and just as expensive, and I doubt they would have sounded any better. And I am considering getting a third one of these to use as a floor wedge monitor for larger venues and larger bands. I'm happy with these and if you need a larger-sized speaker, the 12 and 15 inch variety are also a best bet.

[Class-D] Finally got to use these at a gig just this weekend after purchasing them last summer. I've used them a bit before but really never have had a chance to really air them out and see what they can do.

Wow.

I had these outside up against a wall on a patio outdoors and had to provide audio for a wedding, both the ceremony and the reception. The ceremony itself was about 100 yards from the speakers. No problems at all, these handled that job with ease.

I haven't invested in a subwoofer yet, and with all honesty I wouldn't get the Yamaha subs to go with this when I do (JTR Captivator 218PRO is 3dB down at 27hz for anyone reading this) but it really didn't matter at all. Once it was time to get down and boogie, these speakers brought it with crystal clarity. I still had a ways to go before distortion and we were just rocking the whole mountain valley in Lincoln, MT.

Truly awesome speakers. No distortion at all at insane volume levels with some heavy dance music. Great bass and the mids/highs are crisp and clear. I can't recommend these enough nor the service I received here at BHPhoto. Top quality company and products!

[Active 2-Way] I currently own a set of Mackie SRM 350 V3's, and I'm very happy with them. I'm a dj and I'm trying to downsize my system and make it more compact, but loud and not compromise the sound. So I've been using my Mackie's with my Yamaha DXS12 MKII sub, and it works great, but the spl's on the Mackie's we're insufficient for some of my larger venues. I decided to go with the DBR10's cause I've noticed the specs for the frequency response were close enough, but what caught my attention was the 129db max spl! So I bought a pair, great job on shipping time B&H, and once I hooked them up and began to crank them, I was blown away by the sound quality, but especially how loud and transparent they sounded! Very pristine and accurate sound like my RCF's, but not at RCF prices, lol! I've been djing 40 years and I've been thru many brands of speakers, these Yamaha DBR10's are now my favorite! Compact, loud, but very clear! They can be used without a sub for small venues and rock them! With my Yamaha sub, forget about it! They are a perfect match, and they all fit in my trunk! I highly recommend them!
