The black Yamaha DZR15-D is a Dante-equipped, 2-way powered loudspeaker designed for main/FOH and floor monitor applications. The 2000W Class-D bi-amp powers the 15" woofer and 2" compression driver, which combine to provide a frequency range of 34 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB) with a maximum SPL of 139 dB. The rotatable horn allows for vertical or horizontal mounting to further adapt it to the acoustic dimensions of a venue. The constant directivity horn was designed with the goal of providing smooth, level coverage across the intended coverage area, minimizing roll-off that is common in conventional horn designs.

The on-board 96 kHz DSP processor utilizes Advanced FIR filters for the crossover network and corrective EQ. With the FIR filters, the DZR15-D is able to produce a smooth frequency response for remarkable clarity and sound imaging without phase distortion. The onboard LCD screen allows users to easily navigate the variety of DSP functions, load presets, and adjust PEQ, delay, and routing. The D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures the DZR15-D's sound stays consistent and clear no matter how hard you drive them. The FOH/Main mode boosts the lower frequencies to compensate for low end that is typically lost when flying speakers, while the Monitor mode is optimized for floor monitoring application by taming problematic low frequencies that can be enhanced by floor reflection, and smoothing a wide range of frequencies to deliver the clarity professionals demand from their stage monitors.

The rear panel offers two combo XLR-1/4" inputs with XLR thru/outputs and dedicated level controls. A USB port allows for system upgrades and preset configuration and backups. The DZR15-D is equipped with an additional panel with two etherCON connectors (2-in/2-out) for interfacing with other Dante-compatible equipment such as other speakers and Yamaha's CL/QL/TF digital mixing consoles. The Yamaha DZR15-D ships with a standard IEC power cord.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. would this be good as studio suround 5:1 setup .. would this work as center speaker too?

A: It is possible to use Yamaha HS8I monitors for a 5.1 studio surround setup and you can use it as center speaker as well.

Q: 2. Can these daisy chain?

A: Yes they have an XLR out.

Q: 3. Is there a way to use a Vesa mount with these speakers by themselves or in any combination with the brackets? Would like to attach them to a desk.

A: The following brackets are mane by Yamaha for this monitor• Baton bracket BBS251,• Ceiling bracket BCS251, • Wall bracket BWS251,• Wall bracket / ceiling bracket BWS50.See page 11,12 for instructions on mounting (https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/4/793644/hs8i_en_om_c0.pdf)

Q: 4. Can I connect wireless microphone with this Yamaha?

A: Sure can. Use the mic or line inputs depending upon the outputs offered on the wireless receiver.

Q: 5. Does this create a wide 360-degree sound pattern or a narrow sonic beam like some desktop speakers?

A: The Yamaha MSP3A Powered Speaker is a 2-way speaker, so it wouldn't output a 360-degree sound pattern.

Q: 6. Can this be used with HS80M monitors? I've noticed that this subwoofer has a very different frequency response curve to the now discontinued HS10W subwoofer that was designed for the HS80M monitors.

A: Contacted Yamaha and they assure me that it can be used with HS80M monitors. Frequency response is different as the HS8S can go as low as 22hz (HS10W was 30hz). You just need to adjust the cross over frequency until it best complements the HS80M monitors.

Q: 7. would I be able to pair this speaker via bluetooth with the EV everse 8 ?

A: No, the Alto Professional TS408's SpeakerLink Bluetooth function can only work with another TS4.

Q: 8. What is the RMS?

A: The Alto TS408 TrueSonic 4 Series 2000W 8- 2-Way Active Loudspeaker with Bluetooth is 1000W RMS.

Q: 9. What is the difference between HS8I and HS8?

A: The HSI model has added mounting points to the original HS monitor, and is now compatible with three optional bracket types—wall, ceiling, and baton—adding the flexibility to accommodate a broad range of sonic environments.

Q: 10. is this the upgraded version of Yamaha EMX512SC?

A: Yes, the Yamaha EMX 5 12-Input Powered Mixer is the unit that succeeded the EMX512SC.

[1x Each Side] I purchased a second BR-10 to complete a PA system I use with a Fender guitar/Yamaha modeling amp combo. I get the sound I like and then let it rip. Clean, powerful and impressively responsive across the entire frequency range. Way more than enough for 1500 sq ft of audience (~200 people). Can switch to pure PA use without problems and nobody is going to gripe about this rig. Wish I had this setup when I started doing gigs.

[1x Each Side] I have only used these speakers once but suffice it to say I am very impressed with sound level and quality of sound!!

I play in a three piece wedding band, drums, bass and guitar.

I had a gig at an outside venue and decided to test these speakers out there.  I had been led to believe the venue was smaller and guests would number about 150.  When I got there the place was bigger than I expected and there were a bit more than 200 guests. To top it off, the dance floor was located a ways from the band.

When I fired them up and did the sound check I knew that the speakers were going to handle the event just fine.

I used a bass drum mic and an overhead for the drums.  I also put the guitar and  and a little bass guitar through the speakers.  These speakers put out some surprising  volume and quality sound. The vocals sounded very nice and clear.

Granted, these speakers are and upgrade from the $800 to $900 per speaker I was using, but nevertheless these Yamaha bring the volume and quality of sound that IS the next level. I can only Imagine how they sound with the Yamaha subs which I plan on getting soon.

I am very satisfied with my purchase. And bottom line, these speakers make my band sound better, and that is good for business.

[Plywood] I bought a pair of the 10" speakers to provide sound in my basement for DJ practice mixes and to make my Peloton bike experience rock. It does that very well using only a fraction of its full power. I connected everything through a Yamaha MG10xu mixer.

I have not taken the speakers outside yet, but they should power a backyard party and make the neighbors stand up and notice.

The speakers are rugged, lightweight for the sound they produce, and priced well. You can certainly get better and louder sound, but you will pay at least double.
