The RigWheels RigMount 100 Magnetic Mount 3/8"-16 Screwis a magnetic camera car mount made of rare-earth materials to achieve a strong bond. This mount has a short, 3/8"-16 mounting screw on top for use with small cameras, small tripod heads, or support arms.

Each magnet has a special rubber coating to protect the surface you mount on and to prevent slippage, while preserving the pull strength of the magnet. The advantage of a magnetic mount over a suction mount is that it doesn't lose its holding strength over time. The magnets have up to a 100 lb pull resistance when joined together or placed on a steel surface.

The magnet is designed to hold a small-format camera such as a DSLRs or action camera, but you can also use multiple magnets together to support larger rigs. The magnets can also be joined through a glass window or windshield as an additional car mounting option.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, Could this mount hold Nikon D7200 camera?

A: The Oben Magnetic Mount with 1/4"-20 Mounting Screw will work for any camera with a 1/4"-20 mount and has a 44lbs pull resistance.

Q: 2. Has anyone else had the issue of camera shake when rolling non-timelapse video? I have 6 magnets and the Manfrotto MH057M0-Q5 Magnesium Ball Head and can't get usable footage. Any tips?

A: To answer your question, we need more information. When you say you haven't got usable footage, please describe what it looks like. We presume you are mounting this on a car. Where on the car? How smooth is the road? How fast are you going? What camera do you have? Is is a smart phone or consumer camcorder? Or a higher end camera? If a phone or consumer camcorder, the issue is most likely low end rolling shutter jello images. To avoid that you will have to go to a higher quality camera for even though they probably still have a rolling shutter, the issue is greatly lessened. Do you have a camera with it's Image Stabilization on? If so, turn it off. Most IS, when used on a tripod or mount, overreacts and it moves the image when it should not. Lastly, take a note from a former motion picture camera assistant and use ratchet safety straps and a safety rope or chain on the camera for two reasons. One, to lessen the vibration and two, save the camera should the magnetic plate fall off.

Q: 3. Is this compatible with revolution filters? Thanks.

A: The Kase DIY Magnetic Screw-In Adapter Ring Kit (82mm) is incompatible with Kase Revolution Magnetic Filters. This adapter ring kit converts conventional 82mm screw-in filters to the magnetic type.

Q: 4. Best ball head to use with this? We have a Canon C100 Mark II to mount to a hood of a vehicle.

A: Hi Rory, from my experience with using ballheads for this is that unless it is a very beefy one I would not recommend it. We have used it for our A7s with a 24-70mm sigma zoom though it is not as balanced as your C100 it is also much smaller and lighter weight. What we have found out is that every pot hole every bump will cause the camera to shake and bobble with the ball head. This is because of the way every ball head was designed. A larger mass up top with the camera a thinner connecting rod to the ball base and one knob to tighten the ball unit to where you want it.After a few test runs we ended up using a standard x/y style mount, it took longer to set up and we had to move it a little further back but it was more stable. With the ball mount it was shorter and we really wanted to use it however even adding a three point tension with some straps did not prevent it from wobbling and eventually loosening up the ball and our camera dropped from the framing making the footage unusable. We absolutely love the fast setup with the magnets there is some issues with some legs not being able to touch the car body perfectly but we tied the whole thing back and it survived 50 mph for over 6 minutes.

Q: 5. What type of lock do you use to attach a fluid head on this? I'm assuming its too shallow to use the normal 10mm bowl lock that comes with normal fluid heads.

Q: 6. What is the diameter of the circle?

A: The RigWheels RigMount 100 High-Power Magnetic Mount with 3/8"-16 Mounting Screw have a 4" diameter.

Q: 7. What is the warrantee on this item? I bought this item last May from B&H and the plastic part of the ball head cracked.

A: This product has a one year, limited manufacturer's warranty.

Q: 8. Can you use these magnets with smaller LED COB lights like the amaran 200x without damaging the circuitry of the light?

A: The Oben Magnetic Mount with 3/8"-16 Mounting Screw (100 lb) is designed to be used with cameras and camcorders. If it will not damage those, it should not damage a small light.

Q: 9. how wide is the magnet?

A: just over 10cm.

Q: 10. please add locking push button to knurled knob 1/4-20 (or is there one already?)

A: The Ulanzi Go-Quick II Magnetic Quick Release 1/4" Screw Adapter Mount Set does not have a locking button on the knurled knob, but the quick release system below the mounting platform (which contains the knurled knob), does release from the base via a push button.

[3/8"-16] For years I've been doing suction cup car mounts for small to medium side cameras

and that works fine when you have a crew in time,

but when you don't: this thing holds my Lumix is five with a canon L 24-70mm with no issue.

its such a quick solution, amazing.

[3/8"-16] This magnet is STRONG. I put my gopro on it then place it on either the hood of my car or trunk and drive around with no problems whatsoever. If you buy it make sure you get a really good ball head (I bought the Oben BC-166 Ball Head). Depending on the size of the ball head you use you may have to buy a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter which is less than 10 bucks. I've also put this magnet on traffic lights and it stays on real tight.

[3/8"-16] I was so happy with the smaller Oben magnetic base and ball head that I decided to get the more powerful one. Incredibly strong. Nice thick rubber coating to protect your surface. I trust magnets for car mounts more than suction cups and this product does not disappoint. Highly recommend Oben products.

[0.575 lb] Super impressed with this mount and see it coming in very handy out in the field or wherever I need to mount something to metal. First, this is strong. Says it can hold up to 100lbs and I believe it. If you check out my pictures, you'll see I put a small light on it with the ball head, and it worked like a champ. But I would not be afraid to add a much larger light, especially on a flat hard metal surface. It really is strong. It would also be a great mount for a small camera or light on a car, or other vehicle. The rubber coating will come in handy to prevent scratches. It also feels well made, the rubber feels very secure and looks like it will last a long, long time. Very good build quality. I see this as being a really handy addition to my kit. Especially for rigging a small camera or action camera and a great way to hide a light without needing a stand. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
