Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with any intercom system?

A: It will not work with any system. The Telex MCP90 is a gooseneck electret condenser microphone, designed for front panel connection to that company's RTS system and select Audiocom intercom stations.

Q: 2. How is power

A: This is a dynamic microphone and does not require external or phantom power.

Q: 3. What is the diameter of bottom part of shock mount? In other words, what size hole should I drill?

A: Per the instructions booklet for the shock mount, 1. Drill a 44mm (1-3/4 in.) hole in desired mounting surface. 2. Mark and drill starter holes for screws, using shock mount as a template. We have the shock mount installed in a podium now, so I can't physically verify this dimension, but my memory is the instructions have this correct.

Q: 4. Can I connect it to my laptop?

A: This condenser goose neck mic can be used with a computer with the addition of an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), BH #FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface can provide the necessary 48 volt phantom power that the mic requires, as well as convert the analog signal into a digital signal, which then conects via the included USB cable to your computer.

Q: 5. Will this work on a standard PA system or does it require a pre-amp?

A: This can connect to a standard XLR mic connection on a mixer. The mixer must provide 48v phantom power to run.

Q: 6. Any idea how to store and transport several of these (we have 12)? I can't find any case made specifically for gooseneck microphones, at this point thinking of just buying multiple large hardshell cases and cutting out foam to somewhat fit them, not ideal or cheap but can't think of any other solution.

A: I don't really know. Ours came in a slim box and the mic was wrapped in bubble wraps.

Q: 7. what country is this microphone made in?

A: This microphone is manufactured at Shure's factory in Mexico.

Q: 8. Does this fit into the Shure A412B ACC Base for Microflex Desktop Gooseneck ?

A: Yes, the Shure MX418SS 18" Super-Cardioid Gooseneck Microphone with Switch will fit into the Shure A412B ACC Base for Microflex Desktop Gooseneck.

Q: 9. This has the push-to-talk function. Does it have a button to leave the mic on continuously without having to use the push feature?

A: There are DIP switch settings for leaving the mic on continuously. See page 3 of the instruction manual for settings:a href= http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/89563.pdf target= _blank http://static.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/89563.pdf/a

Q: 10. It is not clear to me whether this mic can be made to switch on, or whether the push button has to be held the whole time. I need a mic that turns on and stays active. Question mark?

A: When you push the button it stays on

[End Address] Had 6 of thee for years, need a couple of new ones. They now have a detachable pre amp so you can feed the wire thru smaller openings or use a wireless belt pack with these mics. I had made this modification to some of mine 12 years ago, it's nice that they come this way now.

[Low Cut/HPF] Our church bought this mic for our second lectern and it is working really well. This mic replaced a Shure SM58 on a stand and it's better in every way--better sounding, more sensitive, easier to adjust, and more inconspicuous. It sounds very natural and it's sensitive enough to pick up all of our speakers, even the quiet ones. The 18 inch length makes it easy to adjust to our tallest and shortest speakers and it's so slim that it never gets in the way. It came with two different mounts needed to install it and the pop filter is effective even if the speaker is very close to the mic.

[1.3 lb] We went through several microphones before settling on the MX418DS for a podium microphone at our church. Others just didn't give us the clean sound for live streams and gain we needed for room amplification.
