The 67mm 67mm 6-Stop Ice ND Filter for Photographyfrom 67mm 6-Stop Ice ND Filter for Photographyis a neutral density filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This neutral density filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features a slim, aluminum alloy filter ring that helps prevent vignetting while remaining durable and lightweight. This filter is designed specifically for photography applications. This filter is not suitable for direct solar viewing with the naked eye, including with optical viewfinders.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter have a hard stop at both ends or does it continuously turn?

A: Continuously turn

Q: 2. Is the front of this threaded to stack a diffusion filter with?

A: The front threading is mainly for use with a standard pinch type lens cap but it can also accept another filter.

Q: 3. Would this fit a Samyang 12 mm lens

A: Depends which Samyang 12mm lens it is. If it is Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Fujifilm X-Mount then yes Ice CO Nano Multi-Coated 0.9 ND8 Filter (67mm, 3-Stop) is compatible.

Q: 4. Will this fit over a 67 mm B&W ND filter on my lens or do I need to remove the ND filter first. Also, will a 67mm lens cap fit on this Syrp ND filter?

A: If your existing filter has 67mm front filter threads, you can attach a Syrp 67mm Variable Neutral Density Filter to it. It isn't recommended to use more than one ND filter at a time, however. You can attach a 67mm lens cap to this filter.

Q: 5. does the canon lens cap the comes with a 77mm fit on this filter? the older Hoya I have I can not fit my canon lens cap on

A: No, like most variable ND filters, the lens cap that came with the lens will not fit on to the Hoya 77mm Variable Density II Filter.

Q: 6. I am wondering- if you had two of these filters stacked, would you be able to safely shoot the coming eclipse?? Stop wise it would seem so. I already own one and love this filter.

A: Everything that I have read on Canon's website and the Eclipse 2017 website says NO! Regular ND filters will not work. The filter needs to be photographic filters for solar photography. The danger is damaging the camera sensor, your eyes, and the camera electronics. You want to get a White Light Solar Filter, such as made by StarGuy.

Q: 7. Can the OEM Lens hood be used while filter is on? I can still use the lens hood with the old Hoya variable ND.

A: Hoya 77mm Variable Density II Filter gets in the way of the original lens hood and it cannot be used.

Q: 8. Does it have a hard stop in each end of the scale? And does it have front filter threads?

A: Yes, the Urth 77mm ND64-1000 Variable ND Lens Filter Plus+ (6 to 10 Stop) has hard stops at the end of the scales and also has front filter threads.

Q: 9. Is this filter suitable to photograph the sun. Or a solar eclipse?

A: The Ice 67mm ND100000 Solid Neutral Density 5.0 Filter (16.5-Stop) is unsuitable for photographing the sun or a solar eclipse. The filter does not block UV or IR light. Instead, get the MrStarGuy 67mm Thread-in White-Light Solar Filter, BH #STSG67MMSOL.

Q: 10. I see the filter does not protrude from the sides like most NDs. Can you use the original lens hood with this filter?

A: Most likely, yes, but it depends on the lens and the hood.
