Compact and lightweight with elegant black leather details and trim that give it a classic and refined style to match its superior optical performance, the Leica 8x20 Ultravid Blackline Binoculars Black Leatherdeliver the views users have come to expect from the brand, with an easy to use and convenient to carry form factor.

They are designed with a combination of phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms, the proprietary HighLux system, and HDC fully multicoated optics to produce bright and clear color-neutral images, while fitting comfortably in the hand for long, fatigue-free glassing sessions. The HDC coatings add abrasion resistance to protect the exterior lens surfaces, and the lenses are also treated with AquaDura coatings which make it easy to clean dirt, grime, oils, sap, and fingerprints without leaving residues that can interfere with views.

Designed to easily fit in a pocket, pack, or purse, the binoculars are made with a dual-hinge system that allows the optical tubes to fold and tuck under the closed bridge to ensure the smallest form factor when fully closed. This also provides a wide interpupillary distance adjustment for easier use by those with narrow faces—like children and adolescents. Helping to reduce the weight to a mere 8.1 ounces is an aluminum alloy chassis that is finished in black rubber armoring with black leather details that give it a refined look, and that feels comfortable in the hand.

Light, compact, and easy to use while delivering bright and clear images, the Ultravid is made to be your constant companion on the trail, at the stadium, or sightseeing around the world.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the "Open Box" model with all the accessories as the brand new model, including the same warranty?

A: The Open Box Model does not qualify for the Brand New Warranty.

Q: 2. How far out do the bullet drop system work? On the new model 10x42 the inclinometer system only works out to 600 yards.

A: The Ultravid model does not have a built-in rangefinder. Only the Geovid model has that. A Geovid HD-R can do calculations for a range of 10-600 yards and provide an adjusted horizontal distance measurement (what we call EHr). Thats usually a good range for bow hunters. The Geovid HD-B can do calculations for a range of 100-875 yards (or out to 1000 yds. by using the included micro SD card to load a custom calculation through our website), and can provide the above mentioned EHr value, or a Hold value, or the number of click adjustments to make on a riflescope. This model is better for the rifle hunter.

Q: 3. Will this binoculars come with the brown hard leather case in the future?

A: The Leica 10x25 Ultravid Blackline Binoculars includes a woven carrying strap, eyepiece cover, and black leather zip-pouch.

Q: 4. DoeS LEICA offer BINOCULAR WINGED EYECUPS FOR THIS LINE?

A: Leica does not offer winged eyecups for the Ultravid binoculars.

Q: 5. what is the difference between ultravid hd and trinovid ?

A: The Ultravids are slightly better quality. The build construction is better too. The Ultravids are also made in Germany, and the Trinovid's are made in Portugal.

Q: 6. Would you explain the difference between the Leica 8X42 ultravid and the 8X42 noctivid? Are either armored?

A: The Ultravid HD-Plus is indeed based on an older mechanical and optical design that has been around for a long time. Its a true and tested performer. The Noctivid is Leica's newest optical and mechanical designs which many individuals at Leica Camera, Inc, worked on for over 6 years before introducing. It shows numerous easily noticeable improvements in performance over not only our existing Ultravid designs, but arguably has been referred to as the new performance benchmark for all. The Ultravid line is complete with 8 different models of full sized binoculars in 32 mm, 42 mm, and 50 mm objective lens models, while the Noctivid is only available in 8x42 and 10x42 models. Comparing apples to apples between the Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus, and the Leica 8x42 Noctivid binoculars, one immediately appreciates the Noctivids closer focus (almost 5 feet closer than the Ultravid product, down to near 6 feet) as well as the Noctivid's very obvious wider field-of-view (443 feet versus 389 feet at 1,000 yards). Especially when comparing in challenging lighting, the Noctivids superior light delivery is easily demonstrable and since delivered at very high transmission across the entire visible spectrum, the Noctivids high dynamic range lends itself to a seemingly unparalleled depth of focus front to back that offers amazing eye comfort. This feature also lends itself to a very quick focus system. With so much of the field from 50 feet to infinity in focus or near focus so at once, most users find they barely have to refocus and adjustments being made are mere degrees on the focus wheel. This means you are spending more time appreciating your subject in focus and less time trying to get the subject in focus.

Q: 7. What is the warranty for a USA purchaser?

A: These binoculars carry a 3-Year Leica No-Fault Passport Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Q: 8. fabricado na Alemanha ou em Portugal?

A: Leica binoculars are manufactured in Portugal.

Q: 9. I am looking for a high end -high quality Bino. I am down to this model Leica 10 x 42 and the Swarovski 10 X 42 swaroVision. Can anyone help with comparison info, especially if you have used these glasses? I will use these mostly for wildlife viewing and helping me find good images for wildlife photography. Thanks for your analysis. J.L.

A: Personally I would go with the Swarovski EL 10x42 SwaroVision Binoculars. I have compared both models side by side in a low light setting, and the Swaro's are superior. There is a slight brightness difference. Also there is more glass in both barrels of the Swarovski's. Build quality wise it's a better binocular too.

Q: 10. I would like a more complete description of the cordura case, for example, does it have a belt loop and zipper, etc?

A: The Leica binocs I bought in December were a gift. We did not include a case. We have the same ones that we have had for many, many years ago and have never used a case. We wrap them in our clothes when we travel. Otherwise they are around our necks for instant use. Sorry I could not help you with the case.

[0.965 lb] Small footprint, very light. The glass is fantastic and, most importantly, it is waterproof allowing me to continue on in the monsoon w impunity. Also purchased the Swarovski Field Case (smallest) as it has a belt loop and was designed to be taken into the field. The one Con is that it did not come with front lens cap and the rear lens caps are puny. Keeper.

[8x] These tiny jewels are perfect to carry in a backpack or coat pocket, with the build quality and optics to satisfy me for a lifetime.

After owning three near-competitors Swarovski, Zeiss, and Pentax) these are the ones I want to carry around on hikes or bike rides (or yes, to the opera).

Are they as good for birding or astronomy as bigger binoculars? No. The view is too tight, they don't collect enough light for stargazing, and they are just a bit small in the hands to be totally stable. But for the total package of portability, comfort, quality and beautiful seeing there isn't anything better on the market.

[20 mm] This is our 2nd pair of Leica binoculars. We love their quality and precision viewing. We appreciate the small size of these, as we take them with us on travels, for birding as well as general distance viewing

[Roof (BAK4)] This is a perfect pocket binocular, aesthetically elegant with the leather finish, and includes a decent small zippered leather case. Optics are sharp and clear, and focusing and other ergonomics are well executed. Focus with glasses can be tricky until you find the correct position against your glasses. Low light viewing is excellent, and focusing in low light is as easy as focusing in full daylight - a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended.

[Yes] I used to work in a Leica dealer and sold this very model. It was always a favorite of mine. Perfect for ballgames, theater and birding.

[20 mm] The quality of the optics is a given. I have a Nikon HG 8x20 and optically, they are similar but the quality of the build is not. Leica is much superior in this aspect - excellent fit and finish. The Leica binoculars are also much more compact and lighter, and look very elegant - perfect to bring to an opera house or a museum. I would have like it a lot more if it can focus more close so that I can observe small and delicate exhibits in a museum. I will have to get their monocular for this.

[2.5 mm] As the owner of 8 x 20 and 10 x 50 Leica Trinovid binocs, I had high expectations for these Ultravid 10 x 25s. I am amazed at the performance! They have exceeded all of my expectations. The image is sharper and brighter (!) than that produced by my Trinovid 10 x 50s! Eye relief and exit pupil performance are outstanding. Use with glasses is effortless. Lack of glare in difficult lighting is superb. Got them primarily to use when I carry a DSLR and big lens, and the 10 x 50s are just too much extra to conveniently carry. Despite the smaller field of view compared to full size binoculars, I will be using these as my primary field glass for bird watching etc. They are that good. Only downside is that now I want 10 x 50 Ultravids! LOL!

[Roof (BAK4)] I use this excellent binocular for woodlands management and enjoyment. The clarity of its images saves my having to ascend steep hills to examine forest conditions and land features. Light, compact, and easy to use with glasses makes this an excellent choice. Finding a way to pack the neck strap into the case is something I have had trouble doing.

[-3.5 to +3.5] Detail and light gathering are phenomenal for a binocular of this size. I have a pair of 10x42 Ultravids for sport, and got these for concerts and theater. Vastly superior to my 10x25 Nikons (which they should be given the price differential).
