The Lenovo 135W ThinkPad Pro Docking Stationfrom Lenovo 135W ThinkPad Pro Docking Stationis designed to dock with select 2018 ThinkPads and provide extra ports for you to get your daily tasks done. Snap your ThinkPad laptop onto the dock to access three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, one of which provides always-on charging, as well as a single USB 3.1 Type-C port that offers charging support up to 3A when connected to the included 135W ThinkPad AC adapter. This dock also allows you to extend your ThinkPad's screen to a maximum of two external displays via its dual DisplayPort 1.4 ports.

Connect to local area networks and the internet with the dock's built-in Gigabit Ethernet port. Or listen to your favorite tunes with the integrated 3.5mm headphone jack, which supports stereo audio and microphone usage. In terms of keeping your ThinkPad safe, this docking station has a Kensington security lock slot for warding away potential thieves. It also includes two security keys to lock in your ThinkPad when it's attached to the dock.

Reason I am asking - quick internet search shows images with closed laptop attached to the docking station, with external keyboard and mouse, could not find any images of laptop being used while attached to the dock.

A: Yes, once you attach your laptop everything functions the same on your laptop. All of the ports are to the rear of the docking station. The laptop will charge once you slide the large button on the left of the docking station. I do notice that the laptop does become warm and the fans will start up when turning on the device. There have been several recent updates from Lenovo regarding the docking station.

[Yes, Kensington] I needed to clone my failing 3 1/2 inch SATA hard drive. This dock was easy to set up and use for this purpose. Since I will probably have to copy or clone 2 1/2 drives in the future, I wanted the ability to use it with 2 1/2 inch drives too. There is plenty of free cloning software out there. I used the free version of the Macrium software which worked quickly and perfectly. 5

You can add two monitors with HDMI and thunderbolt 3 & 4. Plus this have 4 USB for headphone and keyboard. Also, you can add SD card to access pics.
