Enhance your 4K HDR production workflow with the Leader SB-4027 4K/HD Up/Down-Converter 12G-SDI Boardfrom Leader. Designed for resolution, format, and color gamut conversion, this converter board is equipped with one BNC input & one BNC output supporting up to 12G-SDI Type 1 2SI, three BNC inputs & three BNC outputs supporting 3G-SDI Level A/B SQD/2SI & 1.5G-SDI SQD/2SI, and one BNC input & one BNC output supporting 1.5G-SDI & 3G-SDI Level A/B. Also featured are a 12-pin Hirose GPIO and an RJ45 Ethernet port. The converter board can be mounted either on a Sony NXL-FR316 signal processing unit or on a Leader BE-4028 board enclosure.

Q: 1. Is it possible to force the output HD-SDI signal type to be 1080p @ 29.97 regardless of the HDMI or VGA input frequency? and does HDCP pass through this device, such as putting this in line with a computer to a TV and tapping off to use for recording from the HD-SDI output?

A: I use this device for connecting various computers to my professional video switching systems. Yes, whatever the input is, the output is a stable signal at a number of different standards, including 1080p @29.97.I haven't run across any problems with HDCP blocking my use of the signal.That said, I don't recommend using ANY product to bypass HDCP protocols.YMMV....Good luck!Kevin Lawson

Q: 2. Does this allow for a usb out? It shows a usb port but doesn't mention it in the specs

A: The mini-USB port is used only for device control (using Windows-only software) and firmware updates.Google dac-70 manual for more info.

A: The SCIENCE IMAGE FLOW 4K 12G-SDI/HDMI Up/Down/Cross Converter can only perform one conversion at a time.

Q: 5. The Specs show that this waveform only accepts 3G via SDI. Is 12G reserved via IP only?

A: The Leader LV-5600 Waveform Monitor - SDI and IP Signals accepts SD-SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, 12G-SDI single link, 3G-SDI dual link and quad link, HD-SDI quad link via SDI, and 10G/25G via IP.

A: Yes it can.

Q: 7. Eternally grateful for your input... If input VGA at 1024x768 and it is set to output at 1080, will I see pillar boxes and a slight letterbox at the top since it is outputting 1:1 or will it fit to the vertical height? How about for 720? Thanks!!! Steve

A: We are using it similar to what you are describing. If you put VGA in and set output to 1080 it will be full screen. As far as 720, we have not used it yet.Lenny

A: Using the analog audio input it will embed audio onto the HDMI output.

Q: 9. Can it convert a DVI input to HD-SDI using a DVI to HDMI Cable?

A: If you are converting a DVI-D to HDMI, then yes that should be no problem. You will have to also factor in audio. your DVI to HDMI conversion will need to embed the the audio into the HDMI stream.

Q: 10. Is there a scaler on this unit?

A: Yes it does. This is an up/down/cross converter which will do frame rate conversions and scaling.

[12 VDC (22 W)] We bought the DataVideo DAC-70 as a quick fix to an HDMI to SDI converter and loved it. I love the fact that you can do HDMI-VGA-SDI in and the go HDMI-SDI out. great for travel and those ooops moments where the presenter has a computer that you need to plugin. 5

[12 VDC (22 W)] I also use this to scale VGA up to 1080 and the image is shockingly good. I followed the instructions to set the dip switches, plugged it in and was up and running instantly. Super easy, great image, and worth every penny 5

[20 to 80% ()] I use it to convert HDMI/SVGA to HDSDI. It works great to feed my pro roland 1600hd switcher. But my ATEM blackmagic does not recognize anything from it. 5

Was a little nervous this was not going to be pushing enough power to send 720 signal through 300' of Coax cable. The DAC-70 happily surprised me, easy set-up, clear image and plenty of options. I will be purchasing another one tomorrow. 5
