I was in need of a plate and this one, from Impact looks very well made. Hasn't used it yet, but it looks solid!!!

I was concerned that it would not be safe to use this on my ceiling. To be clear, I screwed it into the wood studs. I attached a manfrotto arm with a gh5 to it for a fix overhead camera. This is sturdy. I'm not worried about the camera at all. Very well made. I couldn't ask for anything better. Also, decent price! This feels like something that could easily cost double or triple and still make you happy.

This is a heavy piece of equipment. Solidly built, you can have confidence that whatever photo gear you attach to it will be secure. I’m using mine to build a tethering table that will attach to a C-stand. It’s not as sexy as the Tethering Tools tables, but it’s about $175 cheaper. As long as the table you make for it is well made and finished, it will look professional enough. I’m an amateur anyway so it’s not a huge concern for me.

Not using it as a wall plate. There are many uses instead. 1. by screwing a 12x12 board to the top, It mounts on any stand to support a laptop for those zoom calls on the set. 2. Again on top of any light stand, I taped a small Roland speaker to the top to enable audio for an event. I am sure to think of many other uses.

I use this and the other plate with a baby pin and a matthews gag to get perfect alignment of items that will eventually sit on the plate. As apposed to mounting this plate as a base, I find many uses as a platform for a table mount...

If you need this, then you know what you're using it for. It will work for that. IT is built well. Solid clamp pressure, fits perfectly on the size mount it says it well. Can't go wrong. Great inclusion on the extra holes for mounting. Love Impact
