Arista Ortho Litho 3.0 Film 24x30 100 Sheetsfrom Arista Ortho Litho 3.0 Film 24x30 100 Sheetsis a line and halftone camera film designed for pre-press applications. As a high-contrast film, it is characterized by a very steep gradation and gradation tone, along with a wide density range with high Dmax and low Dmin values for enhanced UV transmission. For halftone, high-contrast applications, rapid access processing in ACD chemistry, such as Majestic 650, is recommended; for continuous tone use, diluted B&W paper developers are recommended for lower contrast results.

For easy handling of the film, the emulsion incorporates a dedicated layer to prevent Newton rings, as well as separate anti-static and anti-stress layers to protect against dust, scratches, and other damage. Additionally, it can be handled and processed under a red safe light.

This item is one box of 100 sheets of 24 x 30" film.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What fixer is recommended to be used with this film? Will TF4 work good with it?

A: I use Kodak fixer or Kodafix...I always use a hardening fixer after too many scratched negatives using rapid fixers (I mean geez, it only adds a minute to the film processing time, so rapid fixer isn't that rapid IMO)

Q: 2. It loads the same as conventional 4x5 film, in the film holder?

A: Yes, it loads the same as conventional film.

Q: 3. What Arista Ortho is right for 4x5 film slides?

A: Arista Ortho Litho 3.0 Film (3.9 x 4.9", 50 Sheets) is the correct film option for your 4x5 film holders. The film edge completes the 4X5 dimensions.

Q: 4. What is the expiration date of this film ?

A: As of 2/1/2024 the Arista EDU Ultra 400 Black and White Negative Film (4 x 5", 50 Sheets) expiration date is 8/2026, This is subject to change.

Q: 5. Description says 100 sheets but the graphic says 10. Which is it?

A: This would be 100 sheets of film.

Q: 6. Can this film be used as direct duplicating film to make an internegative? Looking for film to use in an enlarger to go from 6x6 120 to an 8x10 negative for contact printing processes. Thanks!

A: This film is not designed for that. It would not work for your application.

Q: 7. What is the sensitivity of this film?

A: This film is rated 5 iso.

Q: 8. how many exposures do i get out of one roll of this film?

A: Having used this film for a while now, I'm happy with it...however, the number of exposures per roll depends on your camera. The most popular negative size is 6x6cm, or 60mm square. In which case, you will get 12 frames per roll. Next is 6x4.5cm (also known as 645 where the frame is higher than it is wide, in which case you will get 16. Then, there's 6x9cm, where you will get 8 exposures per roll. This applies to ALL 120 film. If your camera is equipped to use 220 film, you will get twice the number of exposures per roll, although the film is still about 62mm wide, it is twice the length, around 6 feet. Hope this answers your question!

Q: 9. Is this a continuous-tone film, or a "lith" type emulsion (very high contrast) for repro work?

A: The Ilford Ortho Plus Black and White Negative Film (12 x 20", 25 Sheets) is Orthochromatic B&W Negative Film. It is high contrast. Ideal for Tech. & Half-Tone Applications.

Q: 10. Where can I find processing information for this film?

A: This is made to be processed in any standard developer. Follow the developer instructions.

[100 Sheets] It takes a little bit of experimenting to get the feel of the film, but it's lovely. I like my images a little higher contrast, and this is perfect. Partnered with the right processing, it gives great tones and a lovely strong range. It's become my favourite film for large format. Love that you can tray process under red light, too easy!

[100 Sheets] If you are wanting to use this with 4x5 holders buy the 3.9x4.9 version!

Once you dial in your process for this film the results are great. I've shot 1000's of this sheets in camera and continue to do so as my main film. Can be handled and developed under safelight.

[100 Sheets] Really nice fine grain film when you get a process that works. Great fun to experiment with and very capable with practice. Note the 5x7 version measures 5x7. Standard cut film sizes are actually smaller, so if you want to use this with modern film holders the 4.9x6.9 version is what you want. Have fun!!

[100 Sheets] This is a great deal for anyone wanting to try out large format without going broke. I shot this film at ISO 3. The final contrast depends on the developer and technique. If using D-76, dilute stock solution 1:4. With Dektol, dilute about 1:10 or 1:20. With Quintol, try 1:10. The film is not sensitive to safelight, so it can be developed by inspection. If you dilute Dektol too much, you will get film fogging. If too concentrated, the contrast will be too high. I have read that pre-flashing this film can make it behave almost like a normal film, just do a google search on this. The final grain size is very sensitive to developer type. D-76 seems to produce the finest grain, but I still need to test with 1:4 dilution as recommended in some literature. The attached negative was developed in Quintol 1:10 (paper developer). The emulsion is very sensitive to scratching, so be careful when handling it. The other ortho film option is Royal Regent hard dot film, about half the price of this.

[ACD] My 1st sheet film while learning large format camera. The price is right for a beginner and the beginner mistakes that are made while learning the camera. The film has been easy to load into film holders. And easy to develop at home and enlarge in darkroom. Very happy with the results from loading the film to developing and printing this film

[100 Sheets] It may have taken 20 sheets or so to figure out the exposure index and how to shoot in camera, but it was well worth the trial and error.
This has been a great film to cut my teeth on as I delve further into large format.
I use d-76 to develop but have also found a lot of data for other developers as well.
Great film and a great price.
